    Very Decent For The Money

I was quite surprised just how good this solder station is - it doesn't take very long to heat up and the iron sits quite nicely in the hand. It comes with a bag of extra tips, which is a good thing as the one installed in the iron is a pointy affair which is not much use, at least to me. I swapped it out for a chisel tip and it was fine. The base is heavy enough that there's no chance of tipping it over, in fact it really feels pretty solid. A couple of small gripes - the wire connecting the iron to the station base is not replaceable, so neither is the iron. If it goes u/s then the whole thing's had it. Also the wire comes out of the back of the base, which is a bit silly really. It would make more sense to come out the front, where you actually are. The only other thing is that the spiral cage which holds the iron when it's hot could hold it a little better, but it is adequate. To be honest I was a little dubious about buying this solder station because it just seemed a bit too cheap to be any good, but I took a chance and I'm very happy I did as it turned out to be every bit as good as others I've used that cost a hell of a lot more. No idea how long it will last yet but for home use I would certainly recommend it.

    v good for fine soldering

I was pleased to see that this soldering iron came with an assortment of soldering tips interchangable! Its light and easy to use. The support on the control box base is strong unlike some that wobble and wave around. This one stayed secure and I was confident using it as a pensioner of 72 my hands shake a bit. Thios is the 3rd and best I have bought. The others actually fell over while hot because there bases were not strong/heavy enough, and there was no way to hold them down unless i G clamped them to the table! I think the price was ok. More than the others I had bought but as I said they were useless to dangerous. All in I recommend this soldering iron!

  • A good Iron for this price.

It gets hot and melts solder. The tip I have used a couple of times hasn't started to pit (Good) It would be nice to have a silicone lead running to the iron from the unit, but at this price you shouldn't expect such features.

  • Not bad for beginners

Iv had this for several months now and its still going strong, i use it almost daily for all my general soldering (mainly wires onto boards and tinning etc) heats fast but i always have to have it turned right up to max to get nice clean flowing solder joints especially with lead free solder, leaded solder can run slightly lower but not much. It did have one problem the the tip holder falling out but i used a center punch on the main body to keep it in place and its been perfect since

  • Excellent Item - with reservation

First class and superb value. One minor crticism. A larger, slant-faced tip would have been useful to take advantage of the iron's prodigious heat production.I was not able to solder SLIGHTLY larger items that I would normally solder easily with a lower wattage tool simply because there was no suitable tip.

  • Ideal for general to regular soldering use.

As I had thought, this was a 240 volt soldering iron, with a temperature control that's basic but works extremally well, has a very good range to control the iron output temperature tip... also you get a good range of tip sizes too, plus a decent iron holder and cleaning pad; it's a complete soldering station at higher voltage, rather than the standard 24 volt irons. Don't be fooled this is a load of rubbish soldering iron, it's not; and I believe it would last many years of use, so long as you do-not tap the tip or shock the iron as some people do, to remove blobs of solder, use the cleaning pad, or buy a copper ball to de-scale the tip. A very good buy and well made design, highly recommend. Mr. Lucas.

  • Terrible

Takes ages to get the solder to melt, Once you first use it if you want to change the tips the end will be welded on there with the heat and the thing will fall apart if you try to force it, The handle you hold seems to heat up well ! Avoid its cheap nasty rubbish , Use it on a ps4 controller and it just would not melt the solder to get a small part of , tried to solder a wire together the other day and i managed to get one dot of badly melted solder to drop on it after 10 mins ! Throw your £15 in the bin buying this rubbish

  • Katsu soldering station

Bought this to use at home as I am renewing my interest in electronics, my old Weler soldering station bust years and ago and due to the cost never got around to replacing it just made do with a superstore cheapo that has been driving me nuts. What a difference this super little Katsu unit has made, solder runs perfectly, no bridged tracks, a quick swipe on the sponge all that is needed for a clean tip (I bought it along with four extra tips) a real joy to use and the unit is superb value for money, I thoroughly recommend it.

  • Good value and useful

In use, this looks like a good tool and good value - it's comfortable and easy to use, seems to work well and the assortment of tips is useful, the soldering iron holder is secure and stable, so I'm very happy so far.

  • Easy soldering at last!

I've tried several different soldering irons and this one was so much easier to use. The tips are all pre-tinned so as soon as it heats right up (15 mins) the solder sticks to the tip wherever you want it and it is easy to get just the right amount on the tip to. I've just soldered up 6 50 pin D Sub connectors (tiny pins) in a quarter of the time it usually takes, bliss! There are no signs of corrosion on the tip yet either so it must be good qaulity. The temperature adjustment is useful and works well to. I only needed it set at about 3 power. Use the sponge and also clean the sponge every now and again in soapy water to remove contaminants.
