Don't make my mistake....Read the cover carefully!!
When I ordered the item I was quite excited. Three of my favorite films in one case. Had I read the cover properly, I would have realised that it only has 2 films, and a cartoon. But, at a glance, it looks like it contains the trilogy. Cover design failings aside, it does contain two of the greatest films of all time. Pitch Black uses a low budget to create a worthy addition to the Sci-Fi horror genre, measuring up to the likes of Alien and Predator. It also introduces us to Riddick, a so-called psycho, who often turns out to be a better person than those around him. It has hardcore violence and swearing, but, in this setting and situation, it is justified. The great thing about the film, is that the characters aren't simply one dimensional 'victims'. They have depth. Add great effects, music and a few shocks and scares, and the film is one worth a first look, or even a twenty first. The Chronicles of Riddick is, on first viewing, a bit jarring. It's setting and style are a complete departure from the first film, taking us from sci-fi horror to epic sci-fi. This may have put some people off, but I think you get your moneys worth with this film. A hefty running time, loads of action and amazing visuals make this a great sequel. Again, Riddick is a better man than many around him. Also, we have the brilliant Thandie Newton, Judi Dench, a favorite actress of mine and Karl Urban. What more could you ask for? This is, overall and affordable pair of films, in a stylish, if flawed, case. If you love the films, or are inspired to take a first look, this is a good starting point. Also, add Riddick, to complete the trilogy, and you have a franchise to rival Predator.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
