MAGNESIUM OXIDE – 98.3% Pure Animal Feed Grade What is Magnesium Oxide? Magnesium Oxide is a solid white mineral found in contact metamorphic rocks but is usually produced industrially by heat treating Magnesium Carbonate or Magnesium Chloride in the presence of air. Magnesium Oxide has many uses but is probably best know for it's use as a horse calmer. This is Animal Feed Grade Magnesium Oxide; it has been specifically manufactured for the purpose of supplementing your animals diet. How I use Magnesium Oxide? To Feed (horse): Allow 2g of Magnesium Oxide per 100kg of weight. That means for a 500kg horse, 10g of Magnesium Oxide is required. Mix the powder in with your normal feed. Product Safety Magnesium Oxide is considered safe and does not present any danger while handling.

  • Super quality, fast shipping AND worked like a charm! May not be the answer for every case, but it was the one for us.

We were really at our wits end because of a very anxious horse that wasn't improving at all with regular training, carefully formulated feed and Valerian root supplements that left other horses completely knocked out. Magnesium sounded like a silly idea to try since it's known that very few horses are truly deficient in this mineral, but it was a Hail Mary because we had exhausted all other ideas and didn't want to admit that the horse was really just nuts! And what do you know? It freaking worked! The horse is noticeably calmer: less anxious in the stall (finally stopped getting skinnier out of sheer stress), WAY less nervous in the wash rack (he now dozes off during grooming) and even the training improved because he can now start with a nice quiet warmup and finish the session MORE relaxed than he started, and not the other way around. He also stopped taking the bit in his teeth and bolting off uncontrollably for no good reason - he still does that, but less frequently and he now can be slowed down with a simple half-halt, returned to regular rein tension and back into proper work almost seamlessly. It surely didn't solve all of his behavioral problems but it certainly took the edge off the worst ones. Can't say that this will work for all desperate horse owners out there (if you can, you should probably test your feed and hay for magnesium before adding any extras), but it sure did for us and we're elated! The re-sealable bag is very practical, the powder is easy to measure and it's tasteless so it blends in with the food so they can't refuse to eat it. Brilliant, never letting the horse off this stuff ever again!

  • Good product.

I use this for my horse who is a weight watcher, having previously had Laminitis, and has a very large crest (where fat can be stored) Apparently, this supplement provides magnesium which may help such animals. It is certainly well worth a try for a reasonable price. I mix it in damp feed and is eaten readily. It's also supposedly a mild calmative, if the forage etc is causing a deficiency in a particular horse. Again, horse does seem a little quieter... and as I haven't had grazing or forage analysed,it is worth a little as a feed additive.

  • The quality is of the highest order.

I have noticed some people mentioning clumps? This product is very hygroscopic (meaning it attracts moisture from the atmosphere), however when it arrives, there are NO clumps, the product is perfect, an absolute pleasure to work with in fact! This, I did not use for horses or ox's.....I used it for an entirely different property, it's heat resistance. I use it as part of my own refractory recipe, and it is incredible stuff, will take temperature well above 1700°c.! Perfect for forge welding or alternatively mixing with sodium silicate as a great kiln patcher.

  • Magnesium

Good product that is reasonably priced. Would be good if you could put in a measuring spoon. I have had difficulty finding one. So a bit hit and miss with getting the right dose.
