The Sony Vaio Flip 15 convertible laptop takes everything you know about tablet-notebook hybrids and turns it upside down – literally. An innovative center-hinge case with flipscreen sets the Vaio apart from other hybrids, as does its high-power specs and memory capacity – with an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of Solid-State Drive (SSD) cache, and 1 TB hard disk drive, the Vaio Flip 15 not only replaces most desktops and tablets, but outperforms them. The Sony Vaio Flip 15’s unique center-hinge design eliminates a ubiquitous problem found with most hybrid tablet-laptops: when in tablet mode, the keyboard faces down and rests either on your palm or the table you set it on – but not with the Vaio Flip 15. The Flip 15 coverts into three form factors: the standard laptop clamshell, a "Z-hinged" position, in which the screen elevates a few inches above the keyboard and tilts backwards – making for a comfortable angle to view movies and press the touchscreen without losing access to the keyboard – and the tablet form. The Z-hinge allows the display to flip over 180 degrees then slide forward and rest on the keyboard (without pressing the keys). You can manipulate the Vaio flip 15 into its three operating positions without lifting it from the table. By incorporating the same technology used in the Bravia series of televisions, the Sony Vaio Flip 15’s 15.6-inch display sets a high standard not only for laptop hybrids but for laptops as a class of computer. The 1920p x1080p-resolution display features two high-end Sony technologies: Triluminos and the Sony X-Reality Picture Engine. The former enhances color saturation, minimizes color fading, and doesn’t wash out when viewed in sunlight, while the latter automatically reduces image noise, upscales images for the best resolution, and incorporates an intelligent image enhancer that optimizes texture, color, contrast, and outline. In-Plane Switching (IPS) lets you view the screen from any angle without warping the onscreen image or video or losing clarity. An Nvidia GeForce GT 735M Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and onboard Intel HD Graphics 4400 graphics card work in tandem to push the Vaio Flip 15’s visuals while conserving power. When browsing the Web or running productivity software, such as a word processor, the HD Graphics 4400 takes care of business, but when running high-resource games, processor-taxing animation programs, and system-draining video-editing software, the NVIDIA GT740M takes over, giving the Vaio Flip 15 a wide range of graphics capabilities without drawing an unnecessary watt of power. A 1.8GHz (3.0GHz with TurboBoost enabled) Intel Core i7-4500U CPU runs the Sony Vaio Flip 15, providing 4MB of SmartCache RAM. When combined with the 16GB SSD memory cache, you have a computer able to play visually intense, 3-D games at high frame rates with the settings maxed without lag time or "jaggies." The Vaio 15’s large speakers fit comfortably in the case, and results in audio that exceeds the typical 85db you find in other laptops and mobile devices. Sony Vaio Flip 15 tablets come virtually bloatware-free. Bundled programs and apps include Sony Imagination Studio VAIO Edition , ArtRage Studio, VAIO Care, Kaspersky Internet Security, Microsoft Office, and Sony PlayMemories Home.
