Real Use of D2 in GA airplane
Reliable and life saver if no other navigation source is available Screen readability is difficult in a strange way. Visible in direct sunlight, yet, poorly visible in most normal lighting conditions. Garmin Pilot integration works well and simple. I have added waypoints in Garmin Pilot and they become easily transferred and available in D2. Flight plans easily transfer to D2 from Garmin Pilot. Plans can be created in D2 directly if you dont mind taking the time. Nearest function and Direct To functions work perfect even to waypoints that I have created and imported from GarminPilot. Many users of the next model D2 Bravo watch indicated major lack of features that are available and function well in the D2. Very unwise of Garmin I think. A must have for student or private pilot
I am a student pilot and this watch is a great aid to flying. For one thing UTC time is plainly displayed which is great for inflight flight plan updates and planning. It has a bunch of features ranging from navigation to all kinds of info such as compass, heading, altitude, ground speed and more. A little tricky learning to use all the features but worth it. This watch by Garmin is the first model in the series. As it is the first generation it lacks the power and flash of the newer and MUCH more expensive models.
