Very good for price
Laser is used as a pointer. It's not the actual laser that's doing the temp sensing. Circumference of detection widens and becomes less accurate with distance. Some reflective surfaces don't measure at all (solder, foil) or are out by 60%-80% However if i put a bit of dark material on surface - i get a reasonable result (accommodating interference by dark material). Display stays on for reasonable period once you release trigger. Backlight can be configured to be off (saves battery). Item is not much bigger than my hand, comfortable, very easy to use. And, at the price i paid in sept-2017 of less than a tenner...... Incredibly good value. Not as accurate as the forty quid plus models. But, will measure way over the 230C limitations of other, similar, cheap models. This was a factor for me as i use a heat station and like to check surface temperature of work at about 340C.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Looks better than I had expected, the laser aiming is switchable as is the display backlight. Can display either degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit. Great for checking under floor heating and playing with the cat.
What a great little gadget, used it primarily for monitoring a newly installed under floor heating system, checking temperatures and finding air locks. Accuracy checked against a professional thermometer and it is spot on, quality is very good, you could pay 10 times the price and I doubt it would be that much better - highly recommended.
