80Ohm works perfectly well on PC, iPhone SE2 and old iPod Nano. No amps needed. This was my main question prior to buying and here is the definitive answer. Sound was as expected for the product. Good neutral sound as per many youtube reviews. Decent closed back which passively blocks some sound but you can still hear someone yelling to get your attention. Can be a "claustrophobic" as expected from closed back so if you want to hear your surroundings and have a wide soundstage buy the DT 990. But this is not a criticism because it is to be expected. The build is solid as expected from quality German engineering. Feels slightly light and plastic although not what one would call lightweight - they still feel very robust. Plastic is not a criticism as you pay for the audio quailty not that materials. It is of course down to taste but I think they look very good and professional so will not tarnish a stylish desk/studio setup. I would advise using a headphone hook or stand as not to scratch the desk with the metal ear cup supports and vice versa. I use a Konig & Meyer Headphone holder which like the headphones is made in German so is also good for people who want to avoid things made in China. Therefore all round the DT 770 headphones are brilliant value for money.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great sound isolation factor!
When I compare these with my gaming headphones, which are really good, the DT770 have a really great clasping around the ears and are marginally clearer. The cable is super long.... If anything, a tad too long! Comfortable, but with a slight clumsy feel, as the headband tends to wobble slightly over the top of the head. However, the furry ear pads do keep the sound very well isolated to the ear. The response is pretty good, and the stereo effect in these have a greater pan separation effect than my other headphones. Got these at a good price considering the new price value. Most definitely worth having, very very pleased with them indeed. Better than you think.
Beyerdynamic are a studio standard and many studios use this brand to master with. Good sound stage and a little bass extention is involved. They are closed back and a decent length of cable is attached, but you can easily sort a shorter length and mod them if needed and every part is replaceable and reasonably priced from a few sellers. I had to replace the headband and pads on my model and and a little pushing and squeezing to get it how i wanted, but hey mine are second hand. Solid closed back headphones
Great for listening at home with more bass but slight narrower sound-stage than the open-back DT 990s. Can be used for outside but the cable is 3 metres long. I did try these for listening outside while walking but was conscious of looking too much like a cyberman from Doctor who. However, they are great closed backs with sparkling trebles, true mids and a little emphasis on bass. Very pleased with these Headphones
Beyerdynamic are known for making some of the best headphones and when you buy a pair of these its easy to understand why. These headphones sound amazing. I had done a lot of time researching which headphones would be the best to buy and everytime i had settled on a pair, id discover a new pair and then change my mind. However when it comes to the DT770 I was pretty much convinced from the start, as all the reveiws i watched online agreed that these are amongst the best headphones for gaming. The bass on these is tremendous, and its so great to have a pair of headphones that feel like you have a subwoofer strapped to the side of your head. The fact that these are enclosed headphones aswell mean that the noise cancellation is excellent. And these pads on these hadphones are widely regarded as being some of the sofetest and most comfortable and i woud be inclined to agree. I have worn these for over 12 hours at a time whilst gaming and their perfect. I have a pretty large head and large ears and these headphones fit me perfectly, no complaints, and my head doesnt even get warm from wearing theae for long periods of time. Great for home or studio use.
These are great for a home studio like I use them for and also for Professional use. I picked these up as they were amongst the most recommended by many. I couldn’t power them enough with my laptop output so I bought a USB audio interface. Bought for acoustic air rifle shooting.
I bought these to use with an acoustic air rifle, as I needed a high spec headphone to get the higher ranges for the bullseye. I immediately noticed that I could hear a subtle pitch difference right at the top end, which I didn’t get on my sennheisers. My aim has improved dramatically and I am very happy!

Superb and faithful sounding headphones.
After being disappointed with some Sennheiser headphones and Chinese made Beyerdynamic DTX headphones I decided to give these classic German made Beyerdynamic DT770 80 ohm headphones a try. At first the bass was a little too strong and 'chunky' sounding, though this soon became more natural after leaving them to play by themselves for a while. The headphones then began to create a remarkably faithful and tonally accurate sound that was neither bright, warm, forward or recessed. Everything was beautifully balanced and focused with just the right combination of feel, rhythm and transparency. This creates something of a dilemma though as the sound of the DT770 80 ohm headphones will only be as good as the recordings you listen to. Music with a strong bass will have a strong bass, recordings that are transparent sounding will sound transparent etc. After reading many reviews for the various versions of the DT770 headphones, I am confident that the 80 ohm version was the right choice for me. Their honest approach to creating music just gets better and better the more I use them. A fantastic headphone that deserves it's classic status.
