Stop leasing that modem/gateway
If you have Xfinity/Comcast they charge up to $10 a month to lease the gateway. The are happy to help you purchase your own by providing a long list of equipment options and make it easy for you to set it. No technician or technical support required. I was able to find a new ac dual band gateway (modem/router combined) for less than $100 while most options cost from $150-200. It took all of 15 minutes to set it up using easy to follow instructions and have not had a single problem with it. It's very fast (I have a D-link adapter that gets up to 866 maps with little problem. Prior to purchasing the SBG6700-AC I checked reviews on CNET who gave it a favorable write up. And to help customers who decide to set up their own equipment Xfinity has a lot of information to help customers configure the gateway to get the fastest speeds with minimal interfere. I live in a large condo complex with dozens of other gateways and interference. But with the help of documentation provided online by Xfinity, I have been able to set it up with to minimize interference and consistently maintain speeds at the top of the equipment"s capabilities. In contrast AT&T gives their customers minimal help to set up personally owned equipment unless you buy it from them and outright discourage their customers from doing it to preserve their income stream. Replaced my Comcast Cable Modem
I bought this cable modem with wifi to replace my Comcast/Xfinity modem/WiFi router. Thanks to this perfect working unit, I now having a savings of $10.00 a month from Xfinity. Garbage
Router failed out of the box. Extremely poor signal, even 1 foot away from unit. Wireless drops out multiple times per day. Download speed sometimes as low as 400 kbps and never higher than 5 mbps. Resets do not help.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
