Still playing same character at end of career
This is not a bad film it’s just another John Wayne swaggering about with his usual friends. I think they just change the love interest in each film. It’s amazing that by this age he could give another character just a look or one knockout punch or still be the fastest gun around and pull the young maiden even though he was in his fifty’s and weighing sixteen stone. The plot revolves around collecting some money for a widow and takes them almost around in a circle. The cinema photography proves this because when you speed it up they cross the same river twice. There’s a lot of macho talking then travelling then more macho talking again before you get the ‘A Team’ explosions at the end. In some ways his films at the end remind me a lot of Frank Sinatra films when he too got old - watch out very big ego on screen!
