Nice camera, customizable, Great JPG quality, lightweight.

Great camera, great features. Recommend. I have fuji, Panasonic and now the Olympus. Each is good to have. The Olympus has some nice features and good jpg quality. HDR feature works very well for a lot of scenes, but not all. You will learn when and when not to use that feature. Connection to my cell phone seems to work well and allows editing of images and saving them on the phone. One really nice feature that I don't think my other cameras have is it marks pictures that you already transferred to your phone. So, if I choose some after a shoot, then go back later to look to send some more, I will see exactly which ones were already transferred. Also, sometime when transferring a lot of images, I can only do so many do the email limitations so its nice to see which ones were sent so you do duplicate them. Nice customizable button features some you can access modes quacking and settings.

Olympus OM D EM-1: My first impressions.

Well it may be me. I come from DSLR world. Things are different in mirroless. This particular camera being MFT smallest of crop sensors puts out noisy images in anything over 800 ISO. Menu system is very complex and not intuitive. Battery life nothing to rave about. Got to have several batteries charged and ready to go. Structurally very well made, solid, wather sealed. Image stabilization is beasty, can shoot shutter speed of 1" easily. Cannot change exposure while shooting video. May be newer version of this camera is better, will keep following reviews. Nonetheless, I plan on keeping it for now. When quality of image matters I will still lean on my venerable Nikon D750 and for light weight works will use Nikon D5200. Hope this helps.

  • Worthy upgrade

I bought this camera as an upgrade from the em-5, and I am glad that I did because of the superior viewfinder, ergonomics, and new features. Though this is a complex camera with an overwhelming amount of customizable options, I found it simple to set up once I purchased Mastering the Olympus OMD EM1 by Darrell Young. My major reason for upgrading was my dissatisfaction with using the heavier Olympus Pro 12-40mm lens with the em-5. The 12-40mm lens feels natural and well-balanced with the em-1 body. The ergonomics are much superior overall. With the em-1, it is easy to make adjustments to camera settings without removing one's eye from the viewfinder. I am still experimenting with the camera and do not know if its IQ is superior to that of the em-5 or not. So far, pictures seem to be of the same quality, though reds come out more pleasing in pictures taken on the em-1.

  • Olympus OM-D E-M1 Camera is Awesome!!

Five-Star Olympus OM-D E-M1 Camera Body coupled with many Olympus or Panasonic Micro Four-Third lenses is excellent!! I love the compact size. It's like having a miniature full sized DSLR Mirrorless Camera, Also there are many accessories that you can purchase to make your camera most suitable like a Battery Hand Grip, external electronic flash and more. All compact and LIGHT!! Have a look at the first photo and the second next to my Nikon D700 full frame camera. which would you rather carry on your neck or shoulder? I have included photos from this wonderful mirrorless micro four thirds camera. I would recommend the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Camera to anyone starting out in photography or who is a semi-pro to pro photographer!! Test one out in the series of OM-D Micro Four Thirds Cameras and lenses!! You will be amazed and happy with your photographs!!

  • Best IBIS and handling.

I've owned various Olympus cameras, esp the PEN series, EPL2, EP3, EP5's. I've been shooting Olympus for 9 years and have the 25, 45, 75 and 12-40 lenses. I can't speak highly enougn about his camera. The most noticeable difference was how the IBIS and the ISO are diffrent in this camera. All the other PENS raise ISO as the light levels drops, this one however tries to maintain a low ISO while engaing the IBIS, resulting in lower noise shots. Handling is wonderful considering the grip, coupled with the HLD-7 grip, it makes a dramatic handling improvement esp with larger lenses. I couldn't afford this model when it came out, but now that prices have dropped significantly, I am now a proud owner of this gem of camera. I shoot flash photographya s well and having that IBIS really improves things for me. All in all, 7 years later, this is still a very relevant camera, esp when mated with their wonderful primes.

  • Small, robust and great value

Ok, so I took the plunge and bought one of these used. I'm so happy I did wade into the M43 world - the form factor is terrific and the results are great. For context, I've been lugging around Nikon and Canon full frame pro gear and this is a blessing - so light. Recently, my needs have changed - no longer need large prints - so this is perfect for online materials and a more travel friendly agenda. Can't wait to invest in some Leica glass for this...

  • Stunning camera for the price!

This camera has exceeded my expectations on all fronts. It's super easy to use but also the most advanced camera that I've ever used. (As long as you want it that way) I have cameras costing more than double this one, but honestly this is my favorite. It's small size and powerful features make it my go-to camera on a daily basis. You cannot go wrong with the E-M1!

  • Small, lightweigh and robust

Title only describes physical properties. This is an awsome camera: superb image quality, many control buttons easy to customize, make for easy photo sessions. Wifi control is simple to start and very complete, including manual controls of the camera. Great results also with manual, vintage and other manufacturers' lenses.

  • Compact, great images and features

Customizable. Take the time to get familiar with it and you can customize the buttons/dials for your preferences and it becomes so fluid. Image quality is excellent. Presets for "portrait, sport, landscape, etc" are well designed for quick use, and of course the manual modes are easily accessible.

  • Learning and Enjoying This Camera

I am learning how to use this camera bit by bit. I am impressed by the quality of photos I have taken so far. The camera feels good in my hands. It has enough heft to it to it without being too heavy. I have taken a lot of flower and plant photos and was able to quickly learn where the aperture and ISO controls are and how to use them. Also got a few nice shots of airplanes in their landing pattern which goes over my house. Overall I am very happy with this camera. Just need to spend more time with it to learn how to use more functions. The camera has bunches of buttons and knobs, so it might not be a good camera for newbies.
