bridgestone tyre review 2017
Solid all round performer. Does everything good & nothing bad. Good for
about 4000 touring miles. Works fine in all weather & all road
surfaces. Can be run right down to next to no tread with no worries.
also keeps for a very long time, no worries about side wall split if
tyre over 7yr.
This reliability is reflected in the price it can get new & second
hand. Quite high. But you never regret buying this tyre. Still first
choice for me, as a tourer, but it does seem to be losing it`s gloss.
Getting a little old fashioned, esp with sportier riders.
It has been superseeded by other Bridgestone tyres, now, with a more
sporty performance to reflect this.
Generally, My choice, Bridgestone, conti, pirelli, mitchelin, avon,
dunlop.
Bridgestone for as above.
Conti not too bad, recommend the go. probs with slow puntures, not
fitting on bead, splitting. Not so hardy, but grip fine as is wear.
Usually can get a good price if shop around.
Pirelli very similar, slightly down on conti tend to last a bit better.
mitchelin fine once warmed up but tyres tend to go hard with age.
Avon fine but sometimes need to be careful in wet.
Dunlop tend to have a very tough carcass with very thick side walls that
means they last forever. A little down on performance but prob do twice
the mileage. makes them pop with american cruisers.
Other options, The chen shin last long, esp rears, grip prob just below
pirellis.
Had wet grip probs with others.
I see plenty poeple going for semi trail type tyres. Which are keenly
priced, but defn not suitable for higher speeds.
As allways, manufacs will change their range & better performers
will emerge.
