Good old fashioned pirate movie. 5 stars
Watched it the other day for the first time and all I can say is wow. What a movie! It is the closest to the book I have seen and is the best by a mile. And is what i call a proper pirate movie. No magic or crazy plotlines. Just good old treasure hunting with just the right amount of violence without going too far. The cast is stellar and the acting is on another level. Seeing a young christian bale next to sir christopher lee and oliver reed was brilliant. All great actors that gave their all. Would highly recommend to anyone that loves a pirate movie. 5 stars easily more if I could.

If your'e after THE Treasure Island, this is it!
This is by far the most faithful version of this timeless tale. A great cast; Charlton Heston, (marvellous Long John Silver,) Oliver Reed, (a definitive Billy Bones,) Christopher Lee, Pete Postlethwaite, and a very young Christian Bale as Jim Hawkins. Picture quality is excellent, just cannot fault it!
