NotesThe music everyone loves to hear Sarah sing, timed to coincide with her new PBS Special and national tour! Now, for the 1st time, Universal Classics releases an album of definitive performances by the woman most closely associated with musical theatre's premier composer. This collection, filled with 16 hits from Andrew Lloyd Webber's most popular musicals, includes "Memory" (Cats), "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" (Evita), "The Music Of The Night" (Phantom Of The Opera) and more.
In my mind Sarah Brightman's voice is one of the loveliest out there and this CD does not disappoint. It starts out with "Phantom of the Opera" which gets the heart pumping in anticipation of upcoming songs, maybe even with a few tears thrown in awe of the beauty and emotions stirred up. The next three tunes I wasn't familiar with but definitely a pleasure to listen to. Then we come to a couple songs from "Evita" with Sara's highly satisfying rendition. The album continues with one enjoyable listen after another with only a couple songs that I typically skip over—"Gus:" and "Macavity:". The CD concludes with engaging renditions of "Pie Jesu" and "The Music of the Night" to complete a highly satisfying listening session.
