A Fantastic Projector
The image from this projector is excellent. The color and brightness are almost as good as looking at a direct view monitor. Focus and lense control make setting up this projector simple and easy. And the 3D features work amazingly well with native 3D, as well as side-by-side and top-bottom encoded options (some on-line videos are encoded these ways.) I also like the 3D simulation mode, which adds a 3D look to standard 2D video. Colors are full, blacks and detail in dark parts of video show well, and bright areas still look good. The image just looks fantastic. And I love the automatic aspect ratio adjustment. Multiple image memory modes are fantastic for changing room environments. One for lights on, one for blacked out allows for a quick switch when mode changes. Lastly, this projector is amazingly quiet. The projector to end all!!
I previously owned a Panasonic PTAE-4000 which was amazing but it’s easily outdone by this PTAE-8000 3D projector. The 8000 is brighter sharper quality pictures! Room lights on makes no difference, the Ptae-8000 is my idea of a great projected picture! I was in the video audio install business and I’ve seen many, but no match for the Panasonic Ptae-8000! Highly recommend also very accurate color, high HD native resolution high contrast ratio plus every conceivable adjustment- don’t touch them it comes out of the box ready to go, purist! Almost perfect, but dinged for a couple of issues
Great projector, with incredible brightness and image quality. The smooth-screen still reigns supreme, especially if you want to sit close to a large screen. However there are a couple of thing keeping it from a perfect score: 1. There is a high-pitched noise that can be heard during quiet scenes, and is kind of distracting, but it's not super-loud fortunately. I have read up on it, and appears to be the dynamic iris, and turning off the feature does NOT fix it. It must be physically disconnected. 2. The lens shift is still the manual joystick of old, which is a little annoying, especially if you are need to adjust on a regular basis. If you are setting and forgetting, it's not a huge deal. As good as described.
My projector was packaged very nicely with all of the original packaging. I had the Panasonic AE- 3000 and wanted to upgrade to the AE- 8000 for quite some time. It is a really noticible upgrade in brightness and picture quality. The unit appears to be new as far as condition and it is 5 years old. A great reasonably priced 1080P projector.

Upgrade of older Panasonic
