Still the streaming king ...IMHO
I bought this as my first shield product after 1 year of its release. I usually jump on tech trains early but never thought shield was for me. I still believe that if you are an average streamer looking for some basic streaming functionality , there are other affordable 4k options that should work just fine
A couple of things drove me to 2019 shield tv pro over everything else:
Firstly gigabit ethernet. If you are in a multistoried house where wifi signal is inconsistent this feature will be valuable in some specific scenarios. For eg a 4k HDR Dolby atmos content can have a bitrate much larger than 100mbps ethernet limitations that most competition offers
Enhanced AI upscaling : When I heard about it , I thought it was some marketing gimmick. But after trying it , I strongly believe it makes HD content much better. Dont expect miracles on lower definitions but for HD I think 4k upscaling presents a better picture atleast 60-70 times out of 100. With netflix increasing its UHD pricing to $18 per month , I am completely fine staying on standard plan and letting AI upscaling do the work
Lastly, Gamestream. This feature was something I did not research on prior to purchase, but appreciate a lot now. Over past 5-6 years , I expanded my game library on stream to about 400 games. Many of those games are totally compatible with a controller and are much better than bottom-of-barrel-junk games available on play store. Also AI upscaling works with gamestream which means you PC can be running the game at just 1080p but You can expect 4K (ish) picture on larger screen hooked to shield
There are some other miscellaneous features which I dont use much like ability to setup plex server and geforce now. I did try cyberpunk2077 on geforce now for around 6hrs and it worked well.
I am very happy with the purchase and will be sticking with the shield system for forseable future. The only feature I wish they add is hdmi 2.1 output for even higher throughput
