    Great tool if used correctly.

Having been used to air powered 1/2" drive tools at work I researched electric powered ones. I chose the Draper 1000w mains unit. The tool is well put together but heavy <3.5 kg. It is fairly large so no use in confined spaces. I noticed that some reviewers have mentioned the trigger switch (rocker type). I found this to easy to operate and providing you squeeze the trigger before engaging any bolt (just to be certain you have the direction correct), it is fine. # WARNING # This is a very powerful tool so be exceptionally careful when using it to tighten Nuts/bolts. It has NO adjustable torque settings. So everything will be tightened to over 400 Nm. I use it to undo the driveshaft nuts on vehicles. It is perfect for this job. In short a great tool if used correctly.

  • Most critical review

Powerful gun, well made but with a basic trigger design fault that needs sorting.

It's main job is to remove stubborn fixings. These fixtures are of course normally undone anti-clockwise. Why of earth then would you produce the item with a forward and reverse control on the same trigger. It is far too easy to accidentally fire it up in the wrong direction, this action without any form of torque control means it is very easy to shear off bolts. This very powerful impact gun should be fitted with a separate left/right control as fitted to most hand drills. I am going to glue a protruding button or similar to part of the trigger to help avoid pressing wrong part of trigger.....I have manage to shear of a bolt already due to this silly trigger design fault.

  • Draper impact drive 240v

Seems well made and robust, bought to quickly remove car wheel nuts and tractor repairs which it does very well. Nice long lead too. No torque but it has variable speed on the trigger. Cheap and works well.

  • OK for the price

This product is good value, with a couple of major drawbacks. On the negative side - it needs a lot of space, its a bulky item and you will probably want to use it in lots of situations where there just isnt room. Secondly, it is so fierce that it jumps out of the socket at times, and when undoing it can spin the nut or bolt free and throw them across the floor, where you have to search for them. On the positive side, it is very powerful and if price is a major factor then its good value. One for occasional use by DIY mechanics I would say - if you need something like this regularly its probably worth spending a lot more for a more professional version, probably battery powered.

  • Good kit.

Bought this due to series of seized and stiff bolts , not one has this not dealt with, though corded this is a real good bit of kit as the Nm count is a lot larger than most battery driven. This shows in the performance.

  • A real beast but brilliant.

Good old fashioned sturdy quality engineering. Very powerful and surprisingly quiet. Also heavy, two hands needed to keep this beast under control. However, it will do the job in a quarter of the time lesser wrenches will take. One problem is to be very careful about tightening nuts as it is easy to strip the thread if held for too long.

  • Solid and powerful

Proper powerful piece of kit.I haven't used a battery powered impact driver, but this mains powered gun is a beast! Nice quality feel to it. Obviously it is not that portable, but if you wanted something portable you would be going for a battery option anyway. I would say if you are a keen home mechanic, and don't have an air compressor, then this is an ideal option.

  • Good tool, more powerfull than battery types ive used.

Good tool, powerful, removes tight wheel bolts with car in the air. Too big for engine bay use but perfect for turret top nuts once struts are removed. Usefull under car for suspension and steering bolts / nuts where access is possible. Two way trigger can be awkward for stumpy fingers and its heavy, so if your limp wristed need to use both hands. I wouldn't tighten anything with this tool, its too powerfull.

  • Seriously Powerful

Needed to get a hub nut off a van which was tightened to 480nm After destroying two breaker bars (supposedly heavy duty) decided to bite the bullet and buy this bit of kit. Took the nut off in less than 2 seconds. Two things that require your caution, Firstly, Ensure you know which way the trigger turns the chuck, the toggle switch is on or off. There is no clutch. For what I wanted it was perfect. Secondly, just before you engage the nut, check again, this thing will shear off small nuts so, measure twice times cut once! Other than that it seriously does pack some punch. Would strongly recommend this for hub nuts etc.
