    Well featured router

I bought this for a specific purpose, namely to provide an ethernet connection to a piece of equipment that needed Internet access, which I was providing via tethering my smartphone. If this means anything to you, I wanted to use a DMR radio via a Shark Openspot, and go out portable. It works very well indeed. If that is "gobbledegook", don't worry, accept that it worked very well for me. This is not perhaps a common configuration, but the Nano did the job well, offering "client mode" to do so. Radio Amateurs are using this exact same router the world over for this purpose. (In fact, my American friends told me which one to get). I measured the electricity it was taking, (often less than 0.1 amps at 5 volts) which was good for the portable, battery operated mode I planned. It is very small, again, ideal for portable operation. Setup was very problematic, until the penny dropped, I was trying to configure it from the ethernet port (connected on my home LAN) but it is necessary to log into it via WiFi,, at which point it worked first time. I would highly recommend it for the mode I used it in, but have not tried the other modes. Can't see why it would not work well. Build quality is good, and all the necessary cables and a mains power plug are included in a box that affords good protection to the unit. Now my local friends are ordering Nanos as well...!

    Simple Product

This product while simple to program and make it do what you need it to, it doesn't link being reconfigured time and time again. I bought three of these to run with different setups to resolve this issue. Also, when used as a client on a wifi network with more than one access point of the same SSID I found it will not roam from access point to access point as it locks onto to both the SSID and MAC address of the access point. Ideal for a home network but no good in a business environment. I couldn't find a workaround for this issue, (fault?).

  • Great little Wi-Fi enabler

This is a fab little Wi-Fi tool. Configuration is easy and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. I wanted it as a Wi-Fi client to connect a set top box to the internet for video streaming. It does this this very well. I like that it can also be used as a Wireless router, a hotspot router a range extender or an access point. Physically, the unit is compact and seems reasonably robust - for domestic use, that is. I am very happy with this product, it does exactly what the sales description says it does.

  • Small yet very powerful

This is the Swiss army knife of networking as you can see from its emulator at the TP-Link website (search for: emulator site:tp-link.com). It consumes no more than 180 mA which is well below the maximum current from a USB port. This means that it can happily be powered from a Raspberry Pi upwards. The form factor is truly pocket sized at three fingers square and one wide, with minimalist design; USB micro power socket, gigabit ethernet, recessed reset button and green status LED. The latter will need some electrical tape if you use the router in a bedroom. Needless to say, there is no space for a fan so it is completely silent.

  • Tiny but powerful

I'm a photographer, and I use one of these on location shoots to basically drive a network when I have no access to real power or WiFi. It can run off my 12000mAh batteries for days, and has no problem handling several DSLRs, 3 or 4 tablets (with liveview streaming from each camera), laptops (for tethered shooting), half a dozen action cameras with phones for monitoring, and keeping everything running smooth. At home I use another WR802N to extend my wireless network to the back of the house upstairs, and the speeds are as good as if I were sitting right next to my main router. Absolutely top quality product. Would happily buy again, and can easily recommend.

  • So much in such a small box

To connect my Youview TV Box to my Router in another room, I had been using In Line plug In adapters, Put simply - Lead from router to Plug in mains socket - In other room, lead from plug in the mains socket to TV Box. Quality mostly good, but regular picture and sound glitches, especially annoying with Sports events. This nano router, plugs into the Youview TV Box, for power and signal, and then connects wirelessly to my Home Broadband Router. Picture and Sound Quality on the Internet based channels is now excellent - Two Mains sockets are now freed up, and lots of wiring removed. Brilliant piece of kit, and smaller than a Cig Packet !!!

  • great little product

Used to connect BT youview box to a wifi network (BT youview box only has an ethernet cable input!). Come with USB PSU but in my case powered via the BT youview box, which is neat. Followed instructions to set up as client and all worked fine. Smaller than expected, which is good. Longer cables than needed (it only needed stubs for my purpose) but that is a small thing. Looks like it does other clever things too, great universal product.

  • Wi-Fi

Our previous router had a wif-fi on/off switch. New one doesn't - has to be configured through or PC. We don't want or need wi-fi 24/7 so this little gadget bridges the gap brilliantly. Simply plug in a cable from your router and configure. Stop the power to the device for wi-fi off - simple! Can also be used in other places where there are wired connections tp create wi-fi.

  • Not great for iOS hotspot

Bought this with a view to using it in wireless hotspot mode using my iPhone’s personal hotspot as the outgoing connection. It wouldn’t work no matter what settings I tried. I read elsewhere that the older v2 model works fine but not the v4. All was not lost though as I am using it in repeater mode on my home network in our cottage that has thick stone walls. Works great in that mode.

  • Excellent device

This is a very versatile router. I am using it as a wireless bridge for my Humax and it does the job perfectly. My only critisism is that in the quick guide it doesn't explain clearly how you get into the router setup. I ended up using my smartphone to wirelessly connect to the router using its default SSID and password. I could then type the setup link into my smartphone browser to enter setup so that I could then cofigure it as a bridge. It now works without fault.
