Brother 1034D
After my old overlocker (a Bernette - part of Bernina), it did seem a little flimsy, but that's because it's made of plastic instead of metal. Also, the stitch width switch is very stiff and I was frightened of snapping it off. The last bug-bear I have is that the foot pedal is so light in weight, I ended up chasing it all round the floor with my foot! However, for the price, it is, on the whole, a great little machine, which does a variety of stitches and it is easy to tweak the settings for various fabrics (there is a page at the back of the manual which allows you to handily note these variations for future use); thought that was a great idea. I had a few sewing jobs to finish off today, which had been shelved when my old overlocker refused to work and nearly ended up going through the window!). I completed them in no time and I even managed to remove one of the needles and the stitch finger (and the presser foot to rethread needle afterwards), to enable me to do a narrow rolled hem on a chiffon top, and then put it all back together again! It gave a very professional finish and I am sure once I get really used to it and stop comparing it to my old machine, it will become as well-loved as my trusty Bernina sewing machine, which I have had for 28 years! Great little overlocker
My first time using an overlocker and I can highly recommend this model. Came already threaded so just plug in, read instructions and go. Came with accessories of extra feet and thread. Brother 1034D Overlocker Machine
This is a quality machine which worked from the word go until wife forgot to raise the thread tree before using it for the second time. The resultant tension was too much and the threads tangled and jammed the works. Thank goodness for the well-illustrated handbook, which I (husband) used to re-thread the needles. Wish I’d bought it sooner!
Wish I’d bought this when it was £10 cheaper!! Haha missed out on that!
