this gravel cleaner is a brilliant product, it does exactly what it says. its very easy to use, submersible & also cleans the gravel whilst cleaning the bottom of the tank. when you have finished you just slide the filter out, wash it under the tap & slide it back into the gravel cleaner. its a really great product to have.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Seems very lightweight, overpriced and needs product improvement.
Having read all the reviews I knew there was criticism of the build which proved to be true. As a gravel cleaner it is powerful and better than cheaper battery powered models, yet it needs improvement. Given its power the cartridge fills and blocks quickly, with water spraying out of the top (quite a surprise). An alternative by-pass should be possible. Fluval also need to develop a means of catching the larger crap that gets dragged up - I used a net to hoist it out when the cleaner is turned off - but there should be a built in remedy. The LED seems pretty pointless and I found it impossible to distinguish between the 2 speed settiungs. At this price a spare cartridge and some liners would also have been useful. l doubt I will be buying any Fluval liners as they seem quite overpriced compared with making my own filter pads. No doubt I will get good use from the Fluval Provac but when you buy a Ferrari you do expect to get a spare wheel and brakes that work.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good product and no batteries so no loss of power.
My gravel was very clogged after over-feeding some fry. I used this vac and it was brilliant. My only slight concern is that I have had to order some more filter pads after thoroughly cleaning my 70 litre tank just once, and at around £8 for four, I would have thought the manufacturer would have included a spare. I hope the next ones don't clog as quickly. Hopefully now the bulk is out of the way it shouldn't be a problem. it isn't recommended for small gravel use so if you have fine gravel in your tank I don't think it will do the trick for you.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

A really great product!!
This is a really great product!! All aquarium owners should own one. It's extremely easy to use and a very effective gravel cleaner. Also works well as for pumping water out of your aquarium for water changes. (In case anyone is wondering its 8.5W of power isn't enough to pump water from floor level back into the aquarium....but I didn't purchase it for that purpose). I was curious as to whether is could so I had to try it. The filters can be squeezed clean under a running tap and used again and again. Before the debris reaches the main filter element in the Provac there is a plastic slotted cone shaped filter. The larger lumps of debris collect on this. When the 'on/off' button is switched to the 'off' position during operation the large lumps immediately drop off this and back into the aquarium. To overcome this I place a fine mesh net under this gravel cleaner when switching it 'off', to collect that final small amount of debris.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Best product of its kind!
I used the ProVac mainly as a siphon to change aquarium water. I have used many other alternative products, ranging from $5 manual hose to $30 'cheap' battery powered vacuums. Nothing comes close to this. Yes it's not cheap, but it is well worth the money. It siphons water while still being able to filter out (clean) the gravel at the same time. My only small gripe: the siphon attachment is not "screwed on", so it can still come loose if the attached hose gets tangled accidentally.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Waste of money
Poor suction, no value for money! More trouble than it is worth. The good old suction siphon does better. All sounded to good to be true & it was. Better instructions & clarity on what substrate it’s best suited for is required. Light element not really worth it.
