Used model railways & collections always wanted. The Southern Railway introduced this new type of Pacific (4-6-2) locomotive in 1947 for use on the main train lines throughout the system. The locomotives, officially designated Battle of Britain Class are similar in outward appearance to the well-known West Country Class.

  • Need very small drills to open up "holes".

Having been an Airfix user for the past 60 years, it is interesting to see how the moulding has stood up. Some very small pins parts are required to go into some very small holes. The holes are a little too small and break the part, just pressing in the pins. They need to be drilled out. My model is being part attached to a Hornby County Class 4-4-0 loco. The outside frames are not operational as Bachmann found difficult on their NRM model.

  • Well worth the money. And good to see that "recycling" is alive-and-well.

The "tooling" for this must date back to the 1960s. That said, I can only commend the [new] producer for providing a perfectly usable product. You (may) need to trim-off some excess "flashing". Thoroughly recommended.

  • worth the money

the detail looks good there are not many plastic British locomotives available as a plastic kit, kit master is one of the few.

  • Not bad but not great

A good model in as much as the bits fitted together reasonably well BUT and the reason I would not recommend it is that you have to be a proficient modeller to build it.
