Great models, enjoyable game. A few issues with the models and some bizarre rules.
The game turned out to be extremely enjoyable once we figured out which rules needed to be ignored (bonfire sparks, or one character dies everyone dies for example). Aside from these elephants in the room, and the fact that bosses hardly give you any rewards when you beat them, the rules are intuitive and make for an entertaining game. It is long, but enjoyable every second of the way.
Some people find it grindy, though, and I can understand why. The level three encounters are an absolute chore, and can take upwards of ten to fifteen minutes if you aren't adequately equipped. Eventually, we just decided to remove them altogether, after we walked through the door one time and were killed before we could even react. Some classes are objectively better than others. The warrior and assassin are powerful and seem to get all the good weapons, whereas the herald and knight have no real way to deal damage and never get any powerful weapons. If a game was played with these classes as the majority, it would be extremely tedious. In my experience, however, it was a fun, sociable game which had the entire table yelling "YES!" and waving our arms in the air upon defeating a boss just before it was about to knock the last health point off of someone.
The models were fantastic and enjoyable to paint. I strongly recommend you try and paint them yourself, if you want them painted at all, and they don't really require that much skill to make them look good. If someone charges you too much to professionally paint them, you should be sceptical. The Dancer, in particular, is my favourite model in the set. However, there were unfortunately a few issues I had with the models, which is why I docked a star.
The models were ripped straight out of the game files. This led to some unintended consequences where you see parts of the model that were never meant to be seen, The sentinels come to mind: the arms holding their shields appear to be broken at the wrist. Also their heads are tiny, making them look a little bit silly, quite frankly.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, two pieces were missing from my set: one of the game tiles and the polearm of one of the bosses. Neither mattered all that much to me, which is why I didn't order a new set, and I created a replacement weapon out of standard modelling materials. However, some people may not have access to these and be left with an unsatisfactory model.
