Good for Preppers
Too many features for me to use but it would be great for some. I purchased it to add to my Prepper Kit. If another 'cane comes through Florida again the destruction may not leave any roads to use, and this unit is not limited to just roadways. reliable etrex line with extra features
have used etrex 10 an 20 and found them to be reliable and easy to use. I like the bundle with topo and birdseye. use primarily for hunting and fishing, so navigation in the dark happens often and the control buttons work ok for that. battery life is great, even when leaving screen backlight on continuously.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Would like an "old persons" larger machine.

These GPS units are GREAT!!! But.......
I know I got a very good deal on this Garmin handheld GPS. I also am confident it will meet and exceed my expectations......However, the learning curve is very steep! It's not your average plug and play electronic device. I'm a pretty quick learner, but so far I am extremely frustrated getting maps loaded to this device. This is a good basic use unit with some additional features I wanted, IE altitude and compass. Included map is very basic and clunky, but free maps are out there and I was not allowed to include a link that shows exactly how to get them. Great little GPS!!
I bought this eTrex 30 for my bicycle & I highly recommend it. It is compact for use on my bicycle, and it works great with the EZ-Strap Rail Bicycle Mount (that I also purchased on eBay). It is very easy to see the map as I'm riding. The little toggle button works great. I have several other Garmins for my motorcycle, car, pickup & motorhome, and they are all great GPS's. So I highly recommend Garmin GPS's in general as I'm happy with all of them. The eTrex 30 batteries keep it going for at least 2 hours without showing any sign of getting low.
