Revell have made a beautiful kit here,
And I’d highly recommend it to anyone thinking of purchasing a 1/72 falcon,
Highly detailed and builds together extremely well,
Short of getting a fine molds or Bandai perfect grade. Which will set you back over £200,
With a bit of work this is great value for £40,
You can get a lot of upgrades to fit this kit, shapeways to name one,
And without spending an arm and leg over the original price, you can add a great deal of detail for not to much,
Highly recommend
Also jumbles was excellent to deal with, great price too,
Super quick
And well packaged to protect your beloved item you have brought,
Somewhere between detailed toy and model, this gets you a much cheaper alternative to a Bandai kit. Pros are cost and ease of assembly. Cons - no stand even though undercarriage up option available, canopy needs painting as completely clear plastic, and despite the picture on the box showing a glowing blue engine the decal is clear, as is the plastic. I plan on adding a stand and lighting of my own, in order to inch that little bit closer to the high end kits available.
It's fairly well detailed on the outside, but not sure how screen accurate it is but if you spend some time painting it correctly with the correct colours and weathering it properly it should make a fairly good looking and impressive model.
The kit would perfect for trying your weathering skills too, though should not be overdone, even though it is a hunk o' junk.
(AND, it'll do point five past lightspeed)
.
The finished Falcon can be built with landing gear down and has a movable access ramp and radar dish, not sure about the cannons though.
With a few LED's and a long blue LED strip or electroluminescent strip for the engine 'exhaust' it should look pretty good and much better than the bog standard unlit model anyway.
I think its a bit expensive for what it is, but then with other high priced versions such as Bandai etc. I suppose its worth it for a passable rendition of the "fastest hunk o' junk in the Galaxy".
