A simple phone with no frills
Bought as an early birthday present for my partner to replace an earlier version and i intended to set it all up. The instructions said it required a nano sim and as the old one was a micro sim, had to request it from network. When sim arrived and went to put in new phone, not only did it not have a tray as per instructions to insert sim and sd card , the nano sim was too small. So having searched the Internet for S4 phone, I found out it uses a micro sim! The wrong instruction leaflet was inside a sealed box and appears to be for much newer phones that have nano sims and backs that don't come off. In hindsight, I should have checked first by a) following instructions straight away before waiting for a nano sim to arrive and finding the problem sooner and b) search the web. I shouldn't have had to do this if the correct information leaflet was enclosed. The product is 2017 and fine for simple use with no frills and works well with battery charging once a day for average use. SIM will not stay fully in slot so phone won't work
This Galaxy S4 phone looks in good condition but I have one problem with it. When I slide my SIM into the slot it pushes back slightly so it won’t stay in quite as far as it should. When I turn the phone on it shows this message: ‘No SIM. Emergency calls only’ I’ve shown the phone to family members who are more familiar with mobile phones than myself (I am 80) and they have confirmed the problem – the SIM won’t stay fully embedded in the slot. When I insert the same SIM into my old Galaxy S4 it slides in perfectly and the phone works as it should. Another Samsung S4 !
If you're not bothered about a phone that isn't the latest it's spot on. Camera is adequate, speed on apps is good and features like Screen Mirroring are brilliant. I don't get why people want massive screens that are unwieldy to carry about, so the 5 inch screen is just right for us ( we have just bought our third ). I don't use much data, minutes or texts so a very cheap ( per month )SIM card along with the very low current cost of the S4 makes being in touch with friends and family extremely cheap. It'll tale SD cards up to 64gb, but 32 gb is still massive. I can't see me ever having another phone contract in the future when it's possible to have a product that does all that is required at a fraction of the price of the latest model.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
