Bullitt .. so much better on Blu-ray!
I saw this film when it first came out in UK cinemas back in 1968 and I've lusted after a V8 Ford Mustang GT Fastback ever since! It tells the story of how a maverick cop (Frank Bullitt) sets about tracking down the underworld boss who was responsible for the death of a witness in one of his cases. The famous car chase sequence doesn't take place until the start of the second hour of the movie but, at nearly eleven minutes, it must go down in cinema history as one of the best sequences of its type, only equalled perhaps by the car chase in The French Connection (1971). I bought the DVD of this film a few years ago, but having recently 'upgraded' to the Blu-ray version, I'm knocked out by the cleaned up images and the improved sound quality. Highly recommended.
