I was there
In 1958 when this film was partially filmed in Snowdonia I was 16 and used to cycle to watch the filming so it has a personal value to me. That apart, it is based on a real life story of Gladys Aylward and is a remarkable account of her courage and rescue of many children during the Japanese invasion of China. One of the best movies ever made.
Based on the true life of Gladys Ailwood , and her faith and strength to rescue one hundred children , her journey through war torn mountains in China. IA good film of a missionary
A good film but if you have read the book you will see that there is a lot cut out and a bit of a variance. For eg the child she bought in the book she called nine pence but in the film she called her sixpence. A lot of her tough journey to China was not in the film and the true hardship she experienced. A war film with a good ending
