Lantern LED Torch - 4 "D" cells
This is a utilitarian torch. It would be good for keeping in the car boot in case of emergency. The batteries have a long run time with either 2 or 4 "D" cells installed. The balance between output and run time being placed in favour of run time. The switch appears to be reasonably well made and should last a good number of switches. The torch case is made mainly in one piece with a screw front with reflector, acrylic glass and a water seal. This and the internal battery holder are not supper tough in my opinion and should be treated with care. I don't think this would survive undamaged a 4' drop with 4 "D" cells fitted. I have no reason to doubt the claim that it can float in water but have not tried it. The light output is better than a smaller torch of the same specification due to the larger reflector. However the full reflector is not fully utilised. There appears to be several versions of this torch that look very similar but have different light outputs, so chose carefully if this is important to you. With the batteries fitted it is quite heavy with most of the weight being the batteries. 2 cells are recommended for general use, which obviously reduces the weight significantly. The manufacturer claims the torch is built to last for 15 years. I don't know how to quantify this claim in the real world. For the money this could be a good buy.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Shine a light
Although a good price you cannot fit the bigger 6v battery in this model, most 4 D cell torches take both versions of battery with a pull out holder this torch has a built in 4 D cell battey carrier it was as avvertised so no issue there really why I rated a 3 star getting the front back on the torch after fitting the batteries was a bit of a fiddle you can easily cross thread it and have to push down uite hard to get it started on the thread correctly, took a few goes before it fitted correctlyVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Its not water proof because theres no rubber O ring between the screw cap lense and the body. The screw cap doesnt tighten either. I used duct tape
