About this product

Product Information

Knitters will understand the annoyance of a ball of wool or yarn rolling around the floor, getting tangled in the process. This useful wooden wool holder is the solution to the problem. Made from varnished wood, the central pole holds the ball of wool that turns as you knit. The diameter of the base is 100 mm, and it is approximately 175 mm high.

Trimits Classic Knit Wooden Spinning Yarn and Thread Holder Wool Winder Storage

Brought on eBay for winding up my wool into balls and then into cake easy pull from the middle of the cake as I do a lot of knitting and crocheting plus weaving on my loom and is easy to wind up the loom shuttles from the cake.

    Yarn spinner

Well made but unfortunately modern balls of wall are wound in such a way that the yarn wraps round the bottom of the ball so cannot be pulled easily when on the holder. The stem needs to be another 3" long for the larger balls although this wouldn't help with the yarn coming off easily. If you use a wool winder it would possibly work better but defeats the object. If I am missing something and using it wrongly I apologise but have tried all positions for the winder and really cannot get it to work as it should. I have two friends who also bought them and they have same problem.

  • Great features Spins the wool perfectly

This product is so easy to use, no more chasing balls of wool or getting in a tangle. I always take my wool from the middle and with this holder the wool sits where ever its placed..

  • Smaller than expected.

Was expecting the holder to be larger. Have tried it on 100 grm ball and the yarn got stuck underneath so had to unwind it manually. I knit a lot of aran garments and I honestly think it is too small to take the 400 grm ball of yarn. It is well made but the Base could be larger and the spindle longer. Haven't tried it with 50grm ball as yet.

  • Buy a large teapot.

I guess this yarn holder would be fine with small balls of wool, cotton or crochet thread, I knit with 100gram balls of DK wool, this yarn holder needs to be much longer to hold them as a large ball of soft wool collapses or falls over and the yarn gets fast underneath preventing the spin. My granny kept her ball of wool in a large teapot with the end coming out of the spout.

  • I'm not just spinning a yarn !

Wife loves these. I bought two for her as she sometimes uses 2 different balls of wool in her knitting. It's such a benefit not tripping up on the wool now that it is safely in the holders. Such a good idea and such a good price for a good quality item. Highly recommended

  • Good BUT!,

It is made of nice wood but the yarn ball when in place does have a tendency to catch , thus falls over very easily and three quarter’s through ball of yarn it has to be removed completely. Ok but not as good as I had expected.

  • thread holder

This thread holder is a great aid to crocheters and knitters. I highly recommend it the only thing is it needs gripper underneath as it slides on my coffee table, I have just ordered another one for a fiend she was well impressed too.

What a useful item. Stops balls of wool falling all over. Bought one for a friend also. Fits in my knitting bag. Great buy.

  • Too small

It is way too small to hold any yarn ball. Doesnt rotate properly. Just a bad product. What did you expect for such a cheap price. I recommend to pay a little extra and get one that lasts you for a long time.
