Light it and delight in it
It works wonders in my open fire grate. It leaves just a fine ash which is easily cleared if slightly dampened. I am able to light the paper and enjoy the warmth and flame without the fuss of kindling and coal.

Expensive but works.
£6 Cheaper in Costco, if you have a membership. Lights immediately with no hassle and last 3 hours or so. I add smokeless coal after a couple of hours when the flam is reducing and the fire lasts all night then.
