Compact & Classy
I've been searching around for quite a while now for a compact tool case, there are loads of aluminium ones on the market most with tool holders but as I already had a couple of those and they do weigh a bit when full of the bits and pieces we carry to each job, as i'm retired now it was time to look for something different, something smaller but still able to accommodate the majority of things I need. I originally did purchase another makers tool case, very similar to this one but when it arrived I realised that it would weigh about the same if not more than the aluminium cases I already had, I agree that it looked the biz but that's not what I wanted, well not all of it anyway, so search continued. My wife says that men are crazy, we go shopping for a pair of trousers, like the first pair we see yet decide to continue searching round for the rest of the day eventually coming back to those original trousers which we buy! I saw this case when I first started looking but because of my disappointment with my other tool case purchase deleted it from 'my favs' list, yep you guessed it, a couple of months later i'm searching through ebays vast library of products and their it is the Plano PL559T tool case, I checked the specified dimensions and weight and compared it with the other unit to find it was lighter and more compact so off I go again, order placed and I eagerly await its delivery. This time though the tools slotted right into place, screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, testers all seemed to just disappear inside the case, yes I have some items which I don't fit but they are goods not intended for general 'carrying around' so no worries there then. A couple of books including the latest IEE regs and all was in place. Was the unit heavy? no not at all, yes it weighed something but not enough to cause any grief even to me. Did it contain everything I needed on a day to day basis? yep, in fact I could easily loose a couple of screwdrivers and wire snips without any problems. Does it store away without giving the wife 'moaning points'? you must consider this, your wife or partner has to be accommodated as they allow you to put stuff away in their ironing cupboard, chest of drawers ect so the answer to this one is yes again. my wife says she doesn't even notice it sitting by her space station steam iron! All in all a pretty good buy, the case is very strong and unless you slice through it with a knife should not become damaged in that way. The elasticated slots are plentiful and will hold everything you need, the pockets are wide and allow easy access to books or other tools stored inside, a real bargain. A couple of tiny winges, sometimes I wish companies would ask the users how they want a tool case laid out, I've lost the use of loads of the elasticated loops because other items are larger and cover 2 of the opposite loops and lastly I don't understand why theres only one handle! i'd prefer 2 as I don't use the shoulder strap. These are just minor gripes and no doubt more people will ignore these as the benefits of owning this tool case far outweigh the downsides which are none. So go on, take a chance, look the part in more ways than one, I think you'll find its worth the money.
