Worth the upgrade!
I am really pleased with the easy install and ease of setting up the ARRIS G36. Since it is a modem and router in one it takes up less space. Having all of the latest up to date features and protocols makes it a great upgrade from my old modem and router that was five years old. The new G36 also allowed me to upgrade my Spectrum service to 1gb so now I have faster download ability. Also, I am not sure why but before when streaming movies and TV shows with Roku to my smart TV, the dark scenes always had a kind of pixelated and "brownish" look to the darkest black areas which always drove be crazy as I already had 500MB download service so it's not like the download speed was lacking. Now with the new ARRIS G36, for some reason all of the dark scenes are showing up as true black and no longer pixelated. Do not know what the G36 is doing differently, maybe the DOCSIS 3.1 ability? Anyway, I am very pleased with now having a better TV picture than before when all I did was change my Modem/Router to the new G36. Super pleased with my purchase!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Won't work with all devices
Do not purchase if you have Surface devices. Tried for days to connect without any success. Other devices worked without problem. Searched and found out other people had same problem. Purchased another brand and everyone of my devices work without any problem. If you are not sure if this will work for you, buy another brand. Great modem /router combo unit!!
Was a little tricky getting setup because xfinity/comcast didn't ask for the correct mac id. Two mac Id's are provided with the modem/router, one for wifi and the other for modem. Make sure they take the correct mac address and not the wifi address. It works so well now. Paying for 600mbps and getting 678mbps direct cable to router. On wifi getting about 545 depending on device and how close it is to router. Does my whole house no problem with excellent signal strength for all devices. This Arris G36 is on the list of modem routers that are compatible with Xfinity. It works well but doesn't have telephone ports for a landline phone.

I was able to register the modem router with Arris for the 2-year warranty. Hopefully, I won't have to use it! If you have Xfinity, contact them for set up. Does what it’s supposed to.
Got it all hooked up and it works well. The coverage in my house seems good. I had a little problem getting it activated with Xfinity. After I called them we got it straightened out.
