"A MARVELOUS INVENTION FULFILLING ALL ITS PROMISES"

LOVE THIS RADIO AS IT DOES ALL THE THINGS I USE....JUST FOR THOSE WHO ARE FIRST USING ITS VARIOUS FEATURES...BE PATIENT...WHEN MOVING FROM ONE FUNCTION TO THE NEXT YOU WILL NEED TO PAUSE WHEN YOU PRESS THE BUTTONS TO LET THE FUNCTIONS SWITCH -- AND TAKE YOUR TIME READING THE INSTRUCTIONS...THEY ARE ACCURATE....THE ONE THING THEY LEAVE OUT IS THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO BE AWARE (TIL YOU GET THE HANG OF IT) OF WHEN YOU NEED TO PAUSE GIVING THE FUNCTION TIME TO RESPOND BEFORE GOING ON TO THE NEXT FUNCTION...GOOD LUCK -- ITS A MARVELOUS RADIO +.!!!

  • Most critical review

I’ll give it to you straight and unbiased.

The little radio is small compact and does give you a good variety of formats to listen in on. It is a FM/Am/SW/MP3 player that has record options for recording your voice and recording radio stations. The outer casing seems tough and I assume tough enough to withstand drop on the floor by accident and still be a viable unit. Although I wouldn’t try it from any substantial heights. The buttons on it are plastic, and I haven’t had real good luck with this type of button. Usually oils from your hands can deteriorate the plastic over time and they become brittle crack and break off.. Hence most companies have gone to rubber coated buttons that don’t do this. I live in a rural area and it’s tough to get radio stations, I have a couple radios in my house that get better reception than this little radio. When I do get a station with it, it’s usually a strong station to begin with. I’m sure in a city the reception would be more than fine. The Short wave radio has a scan as well to find used channels in a sea of many frequencies which I find very helpful. You chose the band you want and scan the frequencies. Just as with the AM/FM stations you can set them to favorites. I occasionally enjoy listening to liberty talk radio on it. I found the instructions as that of many Chinese goods lacking. Their idea of instructions is to tell you what the buttons do but not actually what to do with them. No full explanation of how they work. After twenty minutes trial and error I figured out how to get the channels to stay put once you hit seek buttons. One thing I do like about the radio is it takes micro SD cards, can be used as a card reader for your computer or to store your music library and recordings. I have over 700 songs on a 32 GB card I put in it. The radio is powered by a 3.7mah battery pack that is replaceable. It charges up within a couple hours with the joint USB, charging and download cable. Nice little design there. The battery life I haven’t been able to see yet, but I’ll tell you I’ve played my music already for 4 hours and it still has two bars of four battery life. As for sound. I was amazed, this little 12.00 radio is loud and relatively clear. Thanks to two speakers. It has a 2” main speaker that handles high end and mid tones in front and a bonus oval 2x1” bass speaker in the rear. Your turn the little radio up to ten and it will vibrate itself off the shelf. When on 1/2 to 3/4 volume there is little distortion, of course on full you will get some as with most inexpensive radios or electronics. I gave the little radio a three star rating, because of the reception, instructions and plastic buttons. The buttons should be upgraded. For 12.00 it’s not a bad buy, it works and does the things that it says it will do. Just understanding how can be a bit daunting. It has a ear phone jack and a external AUX jack to connect other media players to it. All in all it isn’t the worst 12.00 I’ve spent. I mainly bought it as a pack radio for my bug out bag. This has been a Bonedaddy review. 3 + stars rating

  • E.D.C READY. FOR THAT TRIP. AND HOME THANKS

First off the size is just right for my E.D.C. BAG. THEN RECHARGE is easy. As the phone, and the radio. Share the same charger. This also lets me use a folding "solar" pannel to charge radio. As for the record feature. A 8 gig tf chip serves. At a moderate price. Also found battries. Once again at decent cost. This radio is a winner all around. Tks for good radio.

  • Despite it's shortcomings it is worth well worth the price, if you want to receive short wave broadcasts this is not the radio for you.

Everything about the radio is good except it will not receive any shortwave broadcasts and the AM reception is just OK. It has a lot of features for the money like it will record radio broadcasts, play music recorded on an SD card, record sounds from built in mike, and has rechargeable battery.

  • Greatest Little Radio and More

This little radio has the best sound quality on FM of any pocket size radio I have ever owned. The SW band tunes in on weak and noisy signals better than my Grundig mini 300. I have been able to get WWV time on 10 MHz tuned in indoors well enough to make out the time every day since I've had it. All of my other SW portables I have to take outside to get reception that good. AM or MW band is also very sensitive. I have listened to stations I didn't know were out there where I live. The use of a phone battery for the rechargeable option is brilliant. The record option on memory card is awesome. I traveled with small AM/FM/SW portables in the military and I have paid a lot more for a lot less radio many times. Get this one!

  • Great Sounding. Packed with features!

For its size the sound is loud and has depth and good bass. Able to record voice or from radio or from line-in. Works fine with TF card. Although operation isn’t very intuitive, it comes with full detailed manual that covers everything. Great deal on a solid radio!

  • Great Portable Radio Plus

I purchased this Retekess V115 Portable FM/AM/SW Radio Digital Rechargeable MP3 Player Speaker and picked it up this morning. I’m a 67 year old owner of a semi private recording studio and label Indawoods Audio. So I’m quite familiar with a load of electronic gear. I almost never review an item. But I thought I’d offer my/our take. Out of the box I liked the unit. It is very compact but sounds above expectations. It doesn’t feel cheap but I’ll be respectful of It as I’m much larger than it is. That being said, I’m not expect any issues with reasonable care. I read the reviews and concur with all of the positive ones. Those that have issues with the manual may not be used to multi functional buttons. It took me just a little bit to figure that out. Some options require a longer “hold” on a button to lock your selection in. Which prevents inadvertent selections. So… I didn’t find an issue there. As mentioned, it sounds really good for its size with the standard EQ. The MP3 player works well with your micro SD card and offers a few EQ alternatives as well. It remembers where you left off even when the unit is powered down. The sleep timer can be set in 10 minute intervals up to an hour. My only thought is that it does not remember that, so it has to be reset each time. No real problem since it’s easy to set. But a memory there might be nice since I have a nightly routine. The FM reception is pretty good here. As good as most of my receivers in our rural area. Which gives us problems with any over the air tv or radio gear. I have not checked the short wave yet. Some reviewers didn’t think the reception there was outstanding. I have, and have had, a few short wave units over the years. As the manual says, that always shines more at night. And outdoors the signal works better than inside. But, I can’t say I can offer a definitive rating for this unit yet. I’ll know more later. I guess the bottom line is that it’s compact, fully functional, well thought out, and I’m happy to add it to my travel gear list. We do a bunch of off grid camping. The replaceable, rechargeable, 5v battery is great as it can be charged by any micro usb cable driven power source like computers, autos, external battery packs, or even solar charging devices that we use for our phones and gps devices when we’re away from civilization. A tiny thought: It might be nice to add a “kick stand” so it can be angled if you find it receives better, or covers your listening position better. In fact, I was able to slip the end of the included plastic tab that is on the end of the carrying strap into the lowest slop on the rear side. Only a little bit so as not to mess anything up. I think it’s basically a vent to cool the item as it’s used. But that does hold the unit at about a 45 degree tilt. Alternatively, you can get a stand alone collapsible cell phone stand that can add stability on uneven surfaces and enhance your listening position options. But it’s not needed. Just a thought. It sounds great anyway. I think that covers my experience so far. It’s great to have the stand alone radio on hand so I don’t have to depend on my cell phone battery for fm listening. I will do both of course, but there’s plenty of value in the unit to be happy that we’ve added it to our gear list. Definitely worth it to us! Thanks for reading. Deane

  • Very fine radio, needs better instruction manual.

I like this little radio and use it quite often. The how to use instructions could use clarification and some examples. It took me some time to learn to use the radio and some functions AI have yet to figure out how to use them, particularly the recording on to the SD card. The AM and FM work good and there is good battery life per charge. The LED back light work well and makes the display easy to read. The sound quality during playback from the SD card is very good, especially when the card was pre-recorded on my computer. The size of the radio is very good so there is little problem in taking this radio anywhere. This radio makes a very nice gift for friends. I have now bought five of them. The only thing that needs improvement is the operating instructions and this could even be placed on your WEB site.

  • Great sound quality

The quality and sound of the unit was much better than anticipated. A truly nice surprise. Bass much beyond it's size. The interface is great and entry easy. My issues are around the card reader. I bought it so I could load MP3 files onto a micro SD and play them when I didn't want, or couldn't get good stations. I've tried 3 cards and none of them will read. (the cards work elsewhere, though) Also, there is one issue with the menu function, and when you're supposed to see other options when holding the key down, but when I do, I get an error message. In the end, kind of nit-picky for the price, which is ridiculously low for the sound and quality. I'd still repurchase it.

  • Overall the V 115 has a lot nice features in one compact little box.

I would say tuning to a radio station is a little bit annoying with scan feature stopping at every station that is "on". It would have been nicer that if you press the scan button continuously it will bypass the stations that you do not like but you can use the memory feature. I just bought a TR 618 and to me the V 115 seems to be equal or better regarding sound quality with the "bass" and plus it has a recording capability. Also it displays the name of the song being played on MP 3. I like the sleep timer feature and also it displays the station frequency ID all the time. My other radio turns of this display after a few seconds and you feel like blind. The color and flat finish of the body gives the radio a very elegant look.
