  • Excellent little machine

I have been debating to get a 3d printer for a while and decided to get one to possibly make bits and bobs for my work. After doing a bit of research and reading the reviews I found on the Ender 3 I decided to take the plunge and get one. I am so pleased I did it is a cracking little machine not only can you print loads and loads of designs other people have already made you can with practice make your own design and print it off. With a few fails and swear words flying I actually managed to design and print a functional tool for my work that potentially saves me between £100-200 pounds OK granted it doesn't last as long as its metal counterpart but the last one I bought at £120 I dropped and broke it a week after I had bought and now if that happens I can print myself a new one and it's ready in a few hours instead of 2 - 3days postage. The machine itself is relatively easy to build and set up I do recommend watching a few YouTube videos before you start but I would say it took me a good hour to get mine build and ready to print (worse part was loading in the filiment). It produces cracking prints on pretty much everything I have printed so far with minimal fails. All in all I highly recommend this machine for the price it is you can go wrong. Just remember to buy filiment along side as you only get a tiny amount of practice stuff with the machine.

  • It's good. Very good.

It's fair to say I like a bit of DIY and although this is my first hands on experience with a 3d printer, it was very easy to set up using a bit of YouTube. I do work with an engineering background so my main advice when setting it up is to measure everything to make sure you're level. Check all screws as I did have a few that were loose and one that was actually cross threaded and only in on the end of the thread. It easily came out and I screwed it in properly. Checking screws on something like this is standard practice so I wasn't upset by finding a few loose, it happens. The overall build took me probably an hour and a half but I did so whilst sat on the floor with a film on, eating my tea so realistically you could do it in half of that. All tools are included and they're actually not bad. You WILL need a ruler to make sure stuff is level if you want to be precise (the detail of prints really are tiny so I would highly recommend you take the extra time setting it up properly and level). The materials are mostly aluminium and easy to assemble. The only part I thought felt cheap when building was the power supply. This is mostly because it has a plastic cover which conceals the electrics (which is good) but it's designed to only mount on one side and because of that it is possible to move it around and it doesn't sit level. Obviously this is just cosmetic and you can't actually see it when it's assembled, but if I had to pick on something to improve, I'd start with that. On the plus, the display is bright and clear, the operation of everything is smooth and rigid, everything is easy to install and access etc. Once you've built the printer you will have to level the bed and from researching before I purchased it, people seem to struggle with this. I have to honestly say I don't see why. It's very simple. Again on YouTube I found a guide, followed it and it took about 5-10 minutes to set and it worked perfectly. It's also worth mentioning that I found people making little clips for the tubes where they go into the push fittings as they had issues I suppose, however my printer actually came with them. So it seems creality have listened to customer feedback and now includes some from factory. The actual printing is a slow process. I printed the dog file that came with the printer (preinstalled on the usb and micro SD that come with the printer) and it took a few hours. However the detail is really impressive. I used the filament that came with the printer, which when finished left about a 5 inch strand remaining so they obviously include that filament to use for one of the test pieces. You'll have to buy some if you want to use it immediately after. Overall I'm very impressed. For under £200 It's amazing how many possibilities this printer opens up and the quality of the prints really are very good. It's easy to build, it's of good quality and doesn't feel cheap at all. There could be minor improvements here and there but really they're mostly cosmetic. You'll need a ruler for the build, extra filament and follow a decent YouTube guide on how to build it and level the bed. After that you'll have to learn your choice of software to make cool and/or useful stuff.

  • Great value consumer level printer

Had a Anet A8, this product is a far better product. Setup is very straight forward due to partial assembly - unlike the Anet A8. Built quality appears good, the machine is appears to be stiff and robust - which is critical fro good print quality. First prints based the out of the box have been great for a printer in this price bracket, with virtually non-calibration. Very good instructions included as well as a 8GB Micro-SD which is a bonus. The heat bed is a welcome feature as my Anet A8 didn't have one and simialr price (when I bought it). As my second venture into 3D printer I have been very impressed!

  • Amazing value - excellent quality

For such a low price the Ender 3 is amazingly well made; all parts lined up and went together perfectly, it was easy to set up and adjust and has been turning out some excellent prints in PETG and PLA so far. I did get a glass bed and I fitted a z limit spacer and upgraded springs. Other than that I am running it very happily 'straight out of the box'. I found the 3dprintingcanada setting up video a great help.

  • Just amazing!

What an amazing world we live in where we can buy this type of thing for under £200! Having plenty of fun exploring 3D printing with my 9 year old son. And some more complex ideas of my own. This is a super bit of kit for the money. No problems assembling - a couple of hours - with my boy doing a fair share of it. The simplicity and accessibility of the printer design is great. Only done about 20 hours of printing so far, but not had any problems yet. The large bed levelling wheels are great though and makes it pretty easy.

  • Worth a punt

The printer only needed a few minor tweaks. X axis was upside down so the end stop was unable to connect to the hot end carriage. Both a glass bed and a more normal build plate included. Plenty of help available on YouTube. As this is not my first printer the minor tweaks were easy and had it up and running in a couple of hours. Condition is good and would be happy to recommend if you are ok with these minor fetlings. Print quality is good.

  • Good

Got this after 12 months with a Anet 8 and found out on test that if I choose Creality Ender 3 machine in Cura instead of Anet, my Anet prints nearly as good as the Ender, now that makes you think. Not done a lot of prints yet this way but the ones I did print using both printers as Ender 3, ( Anet 8 and Ender 3 ) , there is very little difference except the Anet is slightly faster. Wish I had found this difference, if any, beforehand then I may have stuck with my Anet which has been faultless for just over 12 months.

  • Great little printer

I always wanted a 3d printer and after lots of research opted for the Ender 3, and I love it, this is a great little budget printer that gives great prints every time. You do have to part put it together which isn't too bad and provided you take the time to level the bed before you print it works great. I have switched it off over night and it resumed the next day without any problems. I would highly recommend this.

  • Well worth the money?

With the help of YouTube, this printer is so easy to setup and get printing In a couple of hours. There are loads of videos on it and what it can achieve with a few minor tweaks. For a total beginner to 3d printing it's been a great start

  • Entry level 3D printer

This printer needs to be assembled so you need to be confident that you can do this. There are a number of helpful videos on YouTube to help. The initial setup, levelling the print bed, is also a bit tricky, again YouTube helps. Is is better to have too big a gap than too small as the print can be hard to remove and even damage the bed. Having said that if you are not sure that you’ll be doing a lot of printing it is cheap enough to get some experience and with 200k sales it is established.
