Easy to set up and great quality
It is easy to install and set up. The USB power cable supplies power only. The pictures are streamed to the Nest cloud service over wifi. This takes most of the technical difficulties out of installation and set up. My only complaint is the USB power cable has a 20mm diameter water proof sleeve around the connector which requires a very hole through the outside wall. A cable designed for internal power connection would be much more sensible. Once the hole was drilled, it is simple to plug the USB cable into a mains adapter. The Nest app scans a barcode to add the camera and connect it to and it connected quickly to wifi and the Nest app. The picture quality is very clear. The Nest cloud service uses artificial intelligence to send alerts and record clips when a person or movement is detected. It is easy for the user to draw polygons to define activity zones, so alerts are sent for movement in a garden, but not by passer bys in the road.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Fantastic Security
I decided to buy the Nest Cam Outdoor over the IQ as the facial recognition of the IQ has been shown to be temperamental at best. The Nest Cam Outdoor does everything that the IQ does with the lack of the 4K sensor, this would be better if you needed to zoom in a lot. As I don't the Outdoor was the better purchase at half the price. You do not need to subscribe to use this camera but with their latest packages I would recommend that you should. You get a 30 day trial on 5 day package with a new camera. The basic free service only allows you to review footage for up to 3 hours which isn't a very big time frame. I would recommend for normal private use getting the 5 day package which costs only £4 a month (cheaper than 2 coffees for peace of mind) or go up to the 30 day package if it’s for a business etc. The app on phone and pc is great, allowing you to set specific zones that when people enter you can get notifications via your phone. With the zones it allows you not to get spammed by every little movement outside. The camera will still record this unmarked zones but not harass you with notifications. I would highly recommend this product and buy a Wasserstein Silicone case for it to protect it further and add a bit of Stealth Freerider-Dave

Nest outdoor camera is excellent build quality with a very clear image day and night.

Best cloud based outdoor camera
After months of use I have come across this opinion that NEST outdoor cam is the best option in the market at the moment. I am a long time user of hard drive based CCTV cameras. I must admit that non of the harddrive based camers can meet the quality and functions of NEST CAM. Old school is better

Setting up camera
Love this camera but the only problem is you have to set it up indoors first then set it up again outside . That's ok but I've been having work done at home so have to keep taking it in to reboot which is a real bind yet my other cameras just come back on after electric was switched of .
