    I like the Arc4, better.

Head is too large to fit under nose. Vibration and noise is low so you can hear whether there are whiskers that are being cut. Charge of battery is good. I like the Arc4 better due to its smaller head size. Also, the handle is the Arc4 is larger so it fits my hand, better. I like the high rate of slices per minute on Panasonics compared with Brauns. I bought an open-box sale so the price is good, especially when compared to buying new blades. Thanks to the eBay seller.

  • Most critical review

A good shaver, but keep in mind it doesn't work when plugged in. When the battery goes after about 3 years, so does the shaver.

Shaves as well as my 20 year old Norelco right off the bat. They say it gets better as your face adjust to the shaver, so we'll see. One important warning though. It will not work while plugged in. The battery life is about 3 years per the documentation, and is not replaceable. When the battery goes, so does the shaver. The battery on my 20 year old Norelco can still give one decent shave after a full charge. It doesn't matter as it will still work when plugged in. It's probably because it's not a wet or dry model, but it is something to keep in mind

  • Works Well Until It Doesn't

This shave is my third Arc5. They work well for a year or two and then begin to slowly die as the internal components wear and the shaver begins to rattle like a broken Model T. Don't replace the blades because new blades will not restore the shaver to its status quo ante. And for Heaven's sake, be careful. Don't nick the perforated foil surface. 'Tis better to buy a new unit than fix the old one. Think of these shavers as extended-life throw-away items. Don't try to resurrect them. Grit your teeth, scream and move on.

  • Wow, way better than my old Panasonic shaver!

Some wrote the head is big making it difficult to shave under your nose… they must have massive noses! Anyway, this shaves great! I imagine closer than a razor! I have probably a medium amount of facial hair. Before this shaver, I’d shave Friday morning and Monday morning I’d have to use my trimmer to knock down the hair before shaving. I’d get the 5 o’clock shadow by Friday night. I feel like I have the 5 o’clock shadow about noon the next day! Super close shave without a single cut or burn. Mind you, I’ve shaved all my life with a electric shaver so I didn’t have to get used to an electric shaver. Worth every penny!

  • Should have bought 10 years ago

I have been using Norelco shavers for 50 years. Got a battery powered panasonic travel shaver 10 years ago for motorcycle trips and thought "This $15 shaver seems to work better than my Norelco". Well, my Norelco finally broke, The shaving head that is. And it was only 1 year old. So I decided to try a full sized foil shaver this time. Man oh man! This Panasonic is so soft, cuts thicker or longer hairs in a flash and gets those ones that lay down on your throat that the rotary just could never seem to cut. And, sooo close. Like a baby's butt. And, squirt a little soap on it, put it on clean mode for 20 seconds, rinse and you are ready to go. It's a revelation. I didn't know how bad things were until I got this. I don't know how this will work for you, but personally I am never going back.

  • A close and smooth shave

This is my first foil razor after 30 years with rotary blade razors. First shave with the Panasonic was the best I've had in years. Wow! Razor is very light in the hand, will balanced, and the large shaving head provides fast coverage of the entire face. I especially like the way the head tilts forward and back and side to side. This keeps all five blades in contact with your skin most of the shave. The display is useful by giving you charging status and length of shave at a glance. I wasn't sure about cleaning the foil head and blades, but the easy solution was to rinse both at the faucet, set to dry, and snap together later. The Panasonic videos recommend this for every shave. They don't say much about lubrication. I use Wahl hair trimmer oil. One drop in the center of each foil and blade two or three times a week, run for 10 seconds to spread it and your done. I can't imagine what more razor would get you.

  • First and only electric shaver I have liked!

I just had the Inspire Sleep Apnea device installed. There is a wire that runs up from my chest to a coupling that wraps around the nerves that control the tongue and muscles at the back of my throat. After installation, the place where the coupling is sticks out until the wound heals, several months, making it difficult to shave around it. My ENT surgeon told me to get an electric shaver. Several years ago I bought an electric shaver and I just could not get a close shave so I stopped using it. I bought this electric shaver after reading a review that said "if you want a close shave, this electric shaver is for you. It has 5 shaving heads giving a close shave." And it does not disappoint. This shaver is much more affordable than some of the other shavers (Braun) and it does a terrific job. It is easy to use and well made. I highly recommend this electric shaver to anyone wanting a close shave!

  • Cuts the best of the different shavers I have.

The shaver runs smoothly and quietly and cuts well. I own 4 Panasonic shavers of various types. This one seems to cut the best, although I may prefer the 4-blade model simply because it is lighter and a little less bulky. But after trying almost every brand of electric shaver, I swear by the ones made by Panasonic.

  • Best Electric Razor I've Ever Owned

This is the best and closest shave I have ever had from any electric razor - foil or rotary. I use it to shave my head and face, and have tried several different brands over 6 years. Many do an "okay" job, if you are not bothered by areas of residual stubble. Only the Panasonic Arc5 has performed as I hoped an electric to do.

  • Great shave ease of use

My husband had been cutting himself with his razor and due to blood thinners there were issues. After getting this shaver, he never cuts himself and gets a much smoother shave than any other shaver he has had in his life. This is so easy to use and clean and gives him a great shave. Much better than he had expected.....
