EASY JOINT PAVING GROUT - recommended

The EASY JOINT PAVING GROUT was easy to use. But after carefully brushing it into the gaps between the pavers – it's best to pack it down quite firmly FIRST (with a thin flat-edged tool or strip of thin wood) THEN lightly spray across it all with the hose, working from the highest point down to the lowest point of your patio, OR the grout tends to get washed away too much, by the spray of water if you don't pack it down! I still found that some of it got washed away a bit, but that was easy to gently sweep away. It was applied in damp weather and took 2 days to start to set. It didn't stain at all. Now its set I'm very pleased with it. The colours are quite true to the colour guide on the packaging. On a 12 metre square patio, one person can do it in 1-1.5 hours, this time included making a sludge/dampened bowl of the grout, and packing that grout into the vertical gaps on the patio steps. the colour in the pics is BASALT ( a dark flecked grey) RECOMMEND.

  • Most critical review

    Very disappointed

Did exactly as it said but it didn’t settle into the gaps. It just wouldn’t set. I soaked and brushed it in but it went over the gaps. I had to scrape my paving stones that I had just painted and re paint them again. I purchased the same product a few years ago and it was fine so don’t understand why this didn’t work. Waste of my time and money.

  • Works as advertised, but expensive

It works as advertised: it is easy and quick to apply but it cannot be as strong as a cement-based grout. It takes a few days to set hard, and has a faintly unpleasant smell that hangs around for a while. Once set, it is like coarse sand - permeable and with a rough surface. It looks fine, but if you rub it hard it does come loose, so I imagine and expect that the grout will need replacing after a few years. However, these bad points do not change the huge good point, which is that two people (one with a brush and the other with a hose) can put in the grout in large areas in an extremely short time compared with cement grouting - and no kneeling required. It is quite a lot more expensive than other similar compounds and it would be nice to do a back-to-back comparison with similar products at half the price.

  • Does what it says on the tub!

Interesting stuff....as I've never used this before..but it does what it says on the tub...and it is really easy to do. Just remember that you can't over water it enough. I poured the air tight bag of the compound in the tub and absolutely flooded it with water....then soaked the new patio thoroughly before applying. It needs a LOT of water before during and after application to get the perfect finish. It goes a long way....i did a 1.8 metre stone patio circle, with wide gaps between the stones...and used only half a tub. Couldn't be any simpler to do....just soak everything, tip on the patio and brush into the gaps, clear up any large excesses, then rinse off thoroughly......and i mean really thoroughly, as you need to wash off the oils in the compound completely. Didn't take very long to do, but i did point everything with point knife to pack all down firmly, then a final rinse off to wash off any remaining granules. It will take several weeks for to complete go solid, so I'm reminding myself not to walk on the patio too much for a couple of weeks or so, til it all locks in. One other things.....due to the oils present in the compound, it will stink to high heaven for a while. It's quite pungent! I still had half a tub left (for when i get around to doing a new garden path), thus the compound has to stay wet in the tub or it'll go off. As par with the instructions on the tub, I filled it with more water to approx. 2 inches above the remaining compound....and apparently this will still be good to use for up to a month like this. Can't say any more than that, as I've only laid it today (07/07/21) so the compound is still loose....it does take a while to set properly.

  • Makes a tedious job easy. Very gentle on the knees!

I'm definitely an amateur, but found this pretty easy to use. Tip: Soak everything, even the product when tipped out of the bag, make it as runny as possible so it can be pushed around easily. It helps the grout to flow down into the joint. You can't use too much water. I used three 12.5kg tubs in total, and now I reckon I could pave anything with a nice neat professional finish. Try to apply in shade, or weak sun. Best on a cloudy day or in the evening. Get it into the cracks and then go back over to tidy up the joints using more water as you go. I used a garden hose on spray setting and a plain domestic broom. No need to rush, but don't stop for tea halfway. My grout took about 36 hours to go rock hard, but it toughened up in about 6-8. It seems to harden from the surface downwards and will be a little squashy to the touch until fully cured. This could be different under certain conditions, I did my paving in the summer. It doesn't need covering if it rains before setting, it will set anyway.

  • Easy to use product.

Used it to point a slate slab path so used a trowel to dump small quantities into the gaps then a squeegee to rub diagonally rather than dumping the lot onto a patio. It uses an oily medium to keep semi fluid. As it says, soak the joints and keep the hose going but not like a pressure washer. The compound then slumps nicely into the joints. Not difficult to clean off the slabs but as this was natural stone, it's vital to put one coat of sealer on first. A very slight residue of 'oil' could be seen the next morning on my black slate slabs next to the joints but this washed off the sealed surface which I then re sealed. It will slump out of the outside edges of a patio/path so so maybe use some putty to make a stopper that can be removed when the compound has dried.

  • Excellent DIY product, very easy and straight forward to use.

Excellent product, exactly what i needed to regrout the patio. Ended up with a perfect finished product that impressed friends and relatives. The first lot I put down seemed to leave small amounts of oil spots on the patio so I would recommend sticking to thoroughly spaying with water (mist) as you go. This will help prevent this from happening, however I do beleive they will diappear within time. Absolutely amazing product however, very easy to use

  • Easy Peasy for a Complete Novice

Having had a patuo professionally laid we wanted to use up left over slabs elsewhere. As a result we wanted matching pointing and they used this. So easy to use! Really pleased with the finish...just make suee you have something to finish the pointing properly. Also a good tip to use modelling clay to cover any 'open' ends

  • Great product easy to use

We recently had our patio cleaned which left the joints washed out. Easy Joint was used to replace the old filling. My wife and I did the job ourselves, the product was simple, quick and easy to use but you have to work quickly and use a great deal of water to do a good job

  • I could not believe it was so easy to use and get great results

If your can use a broom to sweep up and a hose pipe to wash down then you can use Paving Grout. Your feet will get wet some use some suitable footwear and if it is raining at the time so much the better. I am 88 and this was so easy to use.
