What can I say about this reel It is awesome I have purchased 8 of them to of each size. And this real at this price I believe that daiwa Has redefined the nature of a spinning reel. This real will definitely send many back to the drawing board I have been fishing them for about a year now And I have not had one failure know wind knots. It has performed flawlessly 47 over slot red fish and counting 16 tunas Hundreds of bluefish Long and she get on the 4000 3000 and 5000 They are in heavy rotation surfacing and bass fishing. 5000 and up I have caught grouper snapper false albacore Barracuda and one small sailfish this real is an amazing piece of work. Smoothest spinning reel I have ever tried
I bought the BG2500 and it is simply an amazing reel. I would say "for the money" but that doesn't do it justice. I'll just say it's an amazing reel period. Absolutely buttery smooth effortless turning. Very rigid frame and the drag click is just the way I like it.. LOUD like a bell. You will not miss it if you are day dreaming while fishing or if you leave your rod in a holder and walk away and a lunker starts pulling out your drag! If there is anything bout it I may critique is the compactness of it...It took me a minute to find just the right grip to avoid my middle knuckle from getting wacked by the rotor when reeling in, but this is just a getting-used-to type of thing. I think it has some to do with how it's angled toward the rod a bit. At any rate this is a seriously nice spinning reel!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I have been very pleased with the Diawa BG series I now own the 4000 and the 4500 they are very close in size sorta wish I went 5000 on this purchase but reviewing the specs I am overall pleased and would buy it again.I use them both for saltwater shore fishing from a jetty as well as Surf fishing and they both work VERY well.I really like the drag. Smooth Operator BG 4500
Very fluid piece of equipment. Feels great in the hand. The handle assembly is top notch. Manual Bail. Old school cool. They spent the money on the components instead of unnessessry bells and whisles. This reel covers a lot of fishing territory in a reliable consistent fashion. Pair it with a decent 7’ rod with a bit of backbone and add a touch of patience and you’re good to go for about 85% of the fish you can reach from the beach.
