Best mandoline slicer ever made, I know, I've tried others and came back to the original.

not what the original was
The Swissmar Borner v-1001 slicer is not what it used to be. I remember the first Borner I purchased, and it was better materials and seemed to last much longer. Don't get me wrong, the slicer is OK for the price and is better than most competition in this price range, but I need better materials, smoother operation and a blade that lasts longer or can be sharpened.. I'll keep it and use it, but I'll also be searching for what I need, something that doesn't stain so easily, and one that I can sharpen the bladesVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Best Mandolin Ever Made!
The Borner V-slicer is absolutely the best food slicer ever made. My previous V-slicer lasted nearly thirty years with Daily use! I was very happy to see the fine workmanship continues with Borner Mfg. The storage caddy makes handling the blades safe. My birds are very fond of their food slices with the thin julienne blade. They hold the fruit pieces like a little cone. I had questions about the bowl and went to Facebook. There I made contact with the representative of Borner and he assured me my old bowl would work with the new slicer. He was right!
