Excellent product.
I was very excited to receive this and install it in my vehicle. I've been using echo dots throughout my house for quite a while, and wanted to extend the hands-free functionality to my drive. First, the product performs exactly as it is designed and does exactly what I expected it to. However, I have a couple of issues that affect how I am able to use it. First, when leaving my home's wifi network and getting onto the cellular network, there is a disconnect that causes the echo auto to have problems. Though this isn't a fault with the echo auto, it does affect how it's used. Second, because of the data connection issue, when my iPhone connects to my truck's bluetooth, it automatically starts playing the music saved on my phone. Once the data issue is resolved, I can tell alexa to start playing something else, but I have to wait until the data issue corrects itself. Finally, the only other issue I have with the device is when I plug by phone into the truck's usb charging port, the media input automatically switches to the usb and therefore stops playing. This can easily be resolved by using the power plug adapter instead of the USB ports, but I liked the look of not having another thing plugged in. All in all, the echo auto was a good purchase, and I am going to by 3 more for my wife and kids. The hands-free functionality is very nice!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

It works, but looses connection easily - needs fussing too much
Being the owner of three home Echo devices, which I really enjoy, I'm quite disappointed in this echo auto device. Set-up was easy though. But actual operation is disappointing. The device looses connection with the phone constantly, and reactivation reacquires the use of the Alexa app, something you can't do while driving. Use of other features on you phone can't be used, such as the GPS, while operating Alexa. One supersedes the other. I was hoping to replace Serius/XM with Alexa, but no, it's not that user friendly. To really get Alexa to work, you'll need a co-pilot to handle Alexa when it (she) gets fussy.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I truly love this Echo Auto. It automatically connects to my phone as I turn on the car’s ignition. Makes hands free phone calls a matter of just speaking. Amazon Alexa in the car!!!
great and handy tool to have in your car when you need good voice recognition to do your task like getting news, reading SMS, finding songs or getting locations and directions since it is all connected thru your phone. SO far even in the mist of driving and the device is able to listen to my command . only very rarely that I have tro trepat my command>! Good with a few caveats
Item is pretty good with a few caveats. There's an occasional bluetooth connection issue where the sound is very garbled regardless of how good the connection is. The issue is software and only fix is to restart my bluetooth so the unit reconnects to the alexa. Otherwise so long as a I remember to connect my aux cord I have a fully functional alexa unit that has the benefit of quick start, gps access through my phone and integration with phone calls. Great when working
I loved the Amazon auto echo and it was invaluable while driving especially traveling 2000 miles across the country but the thrill lasted only for 2 weeks started having connection issues everyday I would get more and more msgs about Alexa not connected lost connection. It got to the point where I could no longer use it for my daily commute and now it is not working at all no sound no connection no nothing didn't even last a month I wish I could get my money back I love my home echo and all of my 5 dots connected at home and had hoped for a similar expiring but no such luckVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Alexia Capabilty for the Auto but does not outshine Siri for Navigation
The Echo Auto provides the Alexia capability I wanted. It is troublesome to keep changing the audio input to iPhone to use my car's audio. When I first installed the device it was using my iPhone's audio and now I wished I kept it that way. I was delighted at how small of device it actually is. So it does what I wanted but I think they have a long way to go to make it a must-have device for the car. You can not say, " Alexia, show me how to get to the nearest grocery" and expect it to do anything with your car's navigational scree nor will it bring up IOS maps, as I think Siri is still a bit jealous of Alexa. Echo Auto cannot find the internet sometimes due to getting confused between cellular, WIFI, and Bluetooth. Don't waste you rmoney!
Not really useful in the car. Most of what it does can be done with your cell phone, already, and using Echo Auto to do these tasks drains phone battery AND your plan's data allotment. Furthermore, when given a command, it typically responds "your echo auto has lost the connection with your phone."
