Meh ....
Used this on a 4 year-old Berghaus 'Aquafoil' breathable/waterproof jacket that had got to the point where the outer layer pretty much soaked water up like normal fabric. Washed as per instructions in non-bio ("kind to baby") laundry detergent and applied Nikwax while still damp. Cursory test indoors showed that it was better but water still soaks in after less than a minute. The amount left in the bottle showed that the estimated coverage on the instructions was bang-on. Used the remainder to re-treat the shoulders and other areas prone to wear or most exposed - I've been out briefly in a light shower and it's pretty obvious the jacket is no more than "showerproof" at best. Bottom line - don't expect miracles from this stuff. Also, note that it has a distinct smell of acetic acid (vinegar), similar to silicone gasket / bathroom sealant which takes quite a while to fade.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Decent reproofer but don’t expect to survive the heaviest downpour!
Great little product for topping up the waterproofing on your clothes, especially around the seams. I like Nikwax because it’s supposedly biodegradable. However it does need frequent reproofing because the protection doesn’t last very long, I find I have to use the wash-in and then top up with the spray for optimal results, and even then they’ll only last for a couple of rainy day walks. Good product
This product is very good and effectively re-waterproofs Goretex and other breathable fabrics. Always buy and use the equivalent Nikwax washing product first, and I always use a Nikwax wash in product first. Spray this on whilst coat us still damp from washing - excellent results and a several coats that are now fully waterproof. I was a little disappointed in respect of the size on the container, as it was smaller than a previous purchase but I think the a similar price - my fault for checking the detail!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
