Exactly what I was looking for.
When the fan is on high, it is a bit louder than what I would like but after the temp is how I like it, I can turn the fan to low and it's quite quiet. I have a 400 square-foot apartment. It cools the living room and kitchen, but does not cool the bedroom which would be impossible because there's a huge wall between the rooms. It's very easy to maintain and control. Pretty good but thermostat function is frustrating
I have owned/own two other air conditioning units and have had some lick with only one of them so I really shopped around before I had decided o the Honeywell 10,000 BTU portable air conditioner. I do not like to see a window unit for the remaining 7 months of weather when i do not use an air conditioner so the portable air conditioner works out well for me. I really don't seee why people complain about the bulkiness or the cosmetic appearance of any portable air conditoner when a window unit is 365 days a year ugly. Anyway, I purchased from good reviews on this unit. I would like to emphasize that the set up is a breeze on these portable air conditioners but the collar that attaches the hose to the window always needs window insulation and duct tape. So I have a 12 x 12 room with standard ceiling heigth. The unit takes a bit of time to cool the room, maybe about 20 minutes, but what is really frustrating is that, after setting te unit to my desired temperature, it naturally returns to the room temperature. During the course of cooling but it never seems to drop down to what i want. Idealistically, I would at least opt for a constant 70 degrees, but it doesn't ever seem to make it that low (as if I am expecting too much?). It seems to default to somewhere between 72-76 degrees no matter how man times I attempt to reset the thermostat. And Yes, i do keep the bedroom door closed. I thought there was something wrong with the unit , but i have experienced the same with the Amcor that i have and it is explained in the owner's manual that the thermostat will go back to what the room temperature is at that moment. I can recommend this product because it keeps the air dry and I have not needed to empty any water out of it. It is quiet - a white noise quiet- that makes it easy to run during the night, and Honeywell is a reputable brand that has been in business for aa long time, so I hope they still know what they are doing. .Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Nice portable, easy to install.
I bought this unit for an upstairs bedroom. Took only minutes from box to running. The blue lighted controls are pretty intuitive and other than the temp indicator light, they all extinguish after a few minutes so your bedroom isn't lit up while you're trying to sleep. The window kit is pretty easy to fit but depending on the window frame, may leave some gaps. If you're going to always use it in the same window, cutting the plastic panel to fit better may help the gap situation. You could just use a little duct tape as well. It's not a quiet unit even with only the fan running. It does an adequate job of cooling the bedroom and the air can be directed up or down.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Trash the fan, BUY THIS Portable Air Conditioner !!!
This is only for one room. After I installed this in my bedroom, my room is really cold. All I do is let it run 2 hours before I go to sleep. I slept very well and not sweating in my sleep. This crazy hot weather is making me hard to sleep in the past since we don't have central air. By using a fan, is just blowing hot air and really not doing much help to cool down your body. This incredible machine is unbelievable. If you want to save money or unable to have the budget to install the central air, this is one machine you need to buy. It is a very good investment. Effective but a little noisy.
I used this unit with a generator following hurricane Irma. It did a satisfactory job of cooling my bedroom but seemed quite noisy. A 2000 watt generator easily handles the electrical load but I did not sleep well with the noise. By the second night, I opened the windows and used a quiet fan. The adjustable plastic mounting apparatus was not wide enough for my window so I had to make a new one out of plywood. On balance, I would not buy another one.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

not as powerful
Not as powerful as I would think. Put a 12,000 BTU window ac in and worked twice as good as the this 10,000 BTU unit. Another thing I do not like, is that the fan never cuts off. When reaches set temperature, the fan runs all the time. No energy saving mode. And still kinda noisey.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Priced Right if You're Just Looking To 'Get By'.
Unit functions fine but could be a bit quieter. On low power, the noise is palatable but on medium or high the noise decibels increase notably. Pictures on ebay did not depict the window exhaust port configuration accurately enough. Thought it would be 'round' but is actually 'oblong', which forced me to reconfigure my existing setup. Amazing for the price
For $160 this was a steal, brought the temperature in my room from 80+ degrees to 63. And it feels even cooler than that because it's also a great fan.
