Alfa adapter is a solid choice for everyday task.
It works as it should be. Powerful adapter with a good signal power. Highly recommend you if you want to improve your wifi signal in urban and in some cases in suburban areas. It's connected via usb cable which has a pretty comfortable length for everyday tasks. 7 db antenna is pretty good, but it shall "watch" the same direction where is WIFI hotspot located (marked side with "Alfa" should watch in that direction). This adapter also has blue led and I didn't figure out how to turn it off. It has a pretty intense light so be prepared that in the night you will be seen from the satellite or at least airplane. I would not say this is a negative feature, but if you working in nights it will be produce enough light for a big family. But you can just cover it so it's not a problem. I recommend it for everyone who needs a good, long-ranged signal with good stability and for those who want to use it for their security tests.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This is the real, authentic Atheros chip and lives up to it's reputation.
This is the real thing. Comes with hologram sticker on the back, device manager reports it as an Atheros chip. Enters "promiscuous mode" like it's supposed to. Kali Linux has drivers for it and it installs normally. Also works well with Win 7 64-bit. Gets significantly better reception than say for example my Samsung cell phone, so the reports about it's ability to pick up weaker transmissions are apparently true. Has a convenient clip. Everything worked great until this morning when I discovered the cans had knocked it off the window and into a bucket of wash water I stupidly left on the floor immediately below. It's NOT waterproof. I'm immediately buying another one to replace the one the cats destroyed. Cats are a-holes. This is a good wireless adapter. If anyone wants a wireless adapter, this is a good one to get, and if anyone wants a cat I have several I'm giving away for free. Works good most of the time. Has to be reset sometimes. Good for the price if you know what you are getting into. It is certainly not the latest and greatest, but it does some things that others won't do at a price that is good. Genuine Alfa product
This is a genuine alfa 036nha that is locked to the GB region. The max txpower I was able to get out of this was 100mw (20dbm) without modifying the firmware. After modifying the 24c08 i2c eeprom I could get more power out of it. The modification was to change the region to BO or US and then update the eeprom's checksum. This adapter now works on Windows and on linux and also on my MR3020 OpenWrt router. This adapter can see AP's my other adapter was not able to pick up. Low signal strength.
I bought this adapter because it has a AR9271 chipset which is better compatible with the Linux than my current AWUS036NH which uses a RT3070 chipset. What I didn't expect was that my would drop from about -31 RSSI to about -51 RSSI. While speed is significantly better in Linux than my RT3070, my connection frequently drops. New lease on life for beat-up laptop for less than $25
