Large digits, easy programming and installation

Very large display digits in a compact handlebar ir stem mount. Simple to program! Easy installation. I do not like the fork-mounted larger-than-wired type wireless sender unit because it has to house battery and electronics and positioning has to be just right. But once magnet and sender are closely aligned it's all right. I loved my old Cat Eye , but its snap fit of computer into stem mount wore out. This was a fine replacement.

Intermittent Operation of Cateye Padrone Bicycle Computer

The CATEYE Padrone Wireless Bicycle Computer is not working reliably. I've mounted it as specified in the directions but it cuts out intermittently, thereby not accurately tracking speed or distance. Also the display of speed jumps around so erratically as to be useless. I installed this same model, Cateye Padrone, on a bike four years ago and that unit operates much more consistently, providing a smooth running average of the bike speed and not dropping out every couple of minutes. I'm going to try replacing the batteries on the display and sending modules and if this does not fix the problem I will be sending the unit back and looking for a different manufacturer for a bicycle computer.

  • Simple setup, quality product and large display.

Simple and effective wireless cycling computer. Large display with easy to follow setup and installation instructions. Very satisfied with Cateye as I have owned several of their units going back a dozen years and keep coming back to the brand for its simplicity, quality and overall great value.

  • For those who need a large readout, with just the basic functions, this is best in its class.

I have owned many Cateye cycling computers over the years, including the much smaller micro and mini versions. They essentially have the same functions, and set up in the same way, so if your are familiar with them, and like they way they operate, then these should serve you well. The smaller versions were somewhat "buggy" in that they sometimes died without warning, sometimes reset, sometimes malfunctioned--where, in all cases, all prior history was lost. The biggest difference for the Padrone is of course its size--as big as most real bike computers, so great for easy legibility. I bought two at first, and right off the bat, one malfunctioned, like the smaller versions--not a good sign. I got a replacement easily and have since added a couple more to the stable (I prefer to have a separate one on each bike). They're great as long as you don't bump or knock them while in use--if you do, they may reset, losing the current ride data--that is the only issue I have with them. Also, a tad pricey for a very limited series of functions--but, if you need or like the big screen, this is the best there is without going to a full "real" bike computer set up. I don't need that, so this one is great. Four Stars says "better than expected" which isn't true--it is as good as expected.

  • Works great and easy to set up and use

I am using this on my cyclocross bike and it is easy to mount on either the handlebars or stem. I like everything about it as I am not interested in heart rate, cadence or temperature and want easy basic info about the ride. The only point I am taking up with Cateye about is that it has wheel/tire size presets for every wheel/tire size except the one on my bike which is 700X33; it goes from 32 to 35. I am sure there is a way around this.

  • Cateye Padrone

Haven't put too many miles on this computer yet but was fairly easy to install and setup. I have a mountain bike with a different model Cateye on it. It works great so I wanted to stick with that brand. This one is on a road bike and I decided to attach to the stem and not the bars. It's nice to have that option. Overall I would highly recommend this unit.

  • Solid performance with easy programmable features.

Installed the Padrone on my trail bike and it has performed flawlessly so far after four rides. It is simple to program and install and comes at a reasonable. This is my second Padrone and both have functioned well.

  • Big screen with only the basic features

The simplest and easiest bike computer to set up and use! If you need cadence, hr, gps, and power meter data, then you have to look beyond and definitely pay much, much more.

  • Nice basic cycle computer

Unit was easy to install and set up is very straight forward. Large display is easy to read and the computer works as advertised. Changing functions are easy even with riding gloves. So far so good.
