  • Very pleasantly surprised

I bought this because of persistent problems with my Virgin Super Hub 3. I wanted a separate router so I could run the Hub 3 just as a modem. I was beginning to lose the will to live trying to pick a router at a reasonable price from the huge available choice when a friend recommended the Archer C7, which they used, and I found a manufacturer refurbished C9 for the same price, which gave me better performance and features like beamforming. I was expecting all sorts of grief setting up the new router, but was frankly astonished at how smoothly it all went, even including a firmware update. The user interface to set up via the browser was an order of magnitude better than most such things, and the biggest hassle was having to set up everything to use a new network. 2.4GHz and 5 GHz show up as two separate networks, rather than two speeds within the same network. I set the 5 GHz as the one used to connect to the Internet, and logged all the PCs etc. into that one without problems, even for the older machines. Still some intermittent issues with Internet connection, as the Hub 3 has known bugs which haven't been fixed by a firmware update in over a year, but the wi-fi network is immensely improved. Excellent value for money, and mercifully easy to use.

  • Great solid device! Easy to set up and with good features.

Very easy to use, menue in standard forms, I use mine to replace a BT Smart Hub 6. The WiFi performance is much better and complete control of router settings makes this a more better device. Easy to set up, works as I would have expected - no dropouts so far. It represents good value for money. Having a guest option was most useful, allowing family members to connect when they visit. Teamed with my Smart Hub box and network with Gigabit switches has upgraded my system at an affordable price.

  • Very strong signal on both 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz and has solved all my WiFi problems.

I have set this up to replace the Wifi signal provided by my cable company's router which is supposed to offer unrestricted connection to the internet. Except the signal kept dropping out and this was due to the equipment not being able to allow enough connections to devices. TP-Link have solved this with this wonderful bit of kit. It can connect over 20 wifi enabled devices without even breaking a sweat ! The connections are very strong and stable as is the signal. Both bands 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz offer wonderful connections all around my house and even down the garden. If you have a problems area, just adjust the aerials until the problem is solved. The firmware in this router is easy to use and has good options for control. This is the best bit of kit I have purchased and knocks the socks off any equipment supplied my internet providers. The router is so stable that for the first time in years , I have not had to reset my equipment since I purchased it.

  • Easy to set up and with good features.

Easy to set up, works as I would have expected - no dropouts so far. As mine was a refurbished product it represents good value for money. Having a guest option was most useful, allowing family members to connect when they visit. Teamed with my Sky Q box and network with Gigabit switches has upgraded my system at an affordable price.

  • Good solid device , working well

Very easy to use in standard form , I use mine to replace a BT smarthub 6. The wifi performance is very similar but complete control of router settings makes this a much better device. The TP Link Teher app is very useful to change things from your mobile device instead of logging in with a browser

  • Simple review of TP-Link Archer C9

Very good product, simple to setup and has lots of features.

  • Good speed, stable connection & WiFi range

Straightforward set-up & connection. Offers good speed & stable ADSL2 or VDSL2 connection. Also includes 5ghz band to reduce the connections using 2.4ghz. Includes a guest network (if required). Looks good in white & stands vertical so it can be mounted on a narrow shelf/bookcase etc. The router does run warm to touch & the LED connection lights are quite bright, but are switchable. Remember this is the original (white) V1900 modem router, replaced by the (black) V1, so new firmware updates for this old model are unlikely. However, if you want a good quality VDSL modem/router at a good price, then this is a good choice.

  • GOOD ROUTER

ITS VERY GOOD ROUTER IT HAS THE LATEST FIRMWARE I DID UP DATE AS SOON AS I GOT THE ROUTER IT DOES WORK WITH TALK TALK AND OTHER ISP I FOUND IT DOES GET A BIT WARM SO AS IT HAS 1 USB 3 AND 1 USB 2 I USED USB 2 TO PLUG IN A 120MM WHISPER QUITE FAN WHEN I WAS USING THE ROUTER BUT WHEN I AM NOT I PULL IT OUT BEFORE I GO TO BED THE FAN AS BOUGHT THE TEMPERATURE. DOWN A LOT . IN CONCLUSION IT WAS A GOOD BUY AND AS IMPROVED MY BROADBAND SPEED BUT I AM VERY PLEASED WITH IT .

  • Virgin Media Upgrade

After changing from BT to Virgin, it is clear that neither of them provides routers that can handle multiple devices. After suffering regular drop-outs, many times a day to varous devices, I switched the Virgin box to modem only and fed the output into the TP-Link Archer. It's been a complete success. No roblems encountered after several weeks of operation. An unfortunate, but worthwhile expense.
