This National Beehive Beekeeping Beehive features a secure floor with mesh insert that slides out for easy inspection, along with an entrance block that features both summer and winter holes. This beehive also includes a brood box and super box, with metal runner attachments and a metal queen excluder. Good product, poor instructions.
Bought this as a complete novice to bee keeping. Product quality is ok, but needs a bit of sanding here and there to make bits fit. Instructions were poor in some instance though. Would have been better in colour as some steps difficult to follow with the B&W photos. Built it using pin nails to start with to make sure I'd done it correctly, then glue, nails and screws as appropriate to finish. Got the frame rail height wrong in the supers, so had to do them again. Also, put the roof inner rails further into the roof, a good 1" at least, not 1/2", so roof overlaps super as well as crown board. Total build time of about 4 hours going at it steadily. Have given it 3 coats of Danish Oil on the outside to protect the cedar. Suggest you buy a set of brood frames and super frames to help you see how the build is supposed to be. A mixed bag
The positives: materials are decent quality, no knots in wood or significant splits. All parts were present, and there are lots! Most of the parts fitted together fine. The negatives: The instructions are very basic, and the photos of poor quality. Although the supers went together easily, the brood box was a pig - the end pannels simply didnt fit into the grooves in the side pannels, which caused major headaches in assembly, leading to one side panel splitting and a couple of joints fracturing. Hopefully lots of glue and extra nails will keep it together. A fair budget product, maybe my panel problem is not common, overall product is ok.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The best way to build
This is a quality item. Sturdy and easy to put together if you follow the YouTube video. Otherwise you will get lost trying to follow the instructions it comes with. The only thing negative about the YouTube instructions is that there is no voice it is a pure read and visual experience. Still much better than the paper option. It took me 3 hours from start to finish as it was my very first one. Overall I am very happy indeed.

A good product let down by confusing instructions
The product itself is well made. However, the instructions are not very well illustrated. As such, it is difficult to identify the parts. What is required is for each item to be labelled with a sticker or some writing to allow the assembler to ensure that he has the correct part. It is possible to build it incorrectly and then have to dismantle it (as I did first time). Also, the perspex window required filing of the edges to remove imperfections caused by the cutting. A BASIC HIVE WITH FRAMES AT A REASONABLE PRICE
The hive is okay. I would suggest buying it without frames. Their are better quality ones on Ebay with beeswax foundations included. Great value and quality.
Easy to construct once you understand the numbering of the parts. Then its just repeating the construction for the Supers. We used screws in all the joints for added strength. I've now put this together and am happy to say the quality of the wood is great. Viewing the YouTube construction video is essential and makes it a breeze to create the finished product.
