Came from the DT 770 PRO 80 Ohms, and this is a direct upgrade from them. Solid bass, cleaner sound, clarity I have never heard from a pair of headphones before. Be warned these need an Amp and sound DOES slightly leak despite being a closed set of headphones. Also the noise isolation is not that good, you probably wouldn't want to use these at an office. It barely blocks out my quiet computer fans coming from my computer let alone other sound. Although at medium volumes the sound starts to block out any ambient noise anyway. Cable is not detachable and is long and bulky so it is not portable. If you can pick up a pair used for 300 or are willing to pay 400-500 for a brand new pair from mass drop and then wait upwards of 2-3 MONTHS then the new TR-X00 is your best bet.
I really love the Fostex TH X00 for many many reasons. This is a headphone that is meant for the serious audiophile who just wants to enjoy the music the way the artists intended. It starts with the Bass in one word Incredible. I've never ever heard sub sonic bass like this it just keeps going down but so cleanly. The Mid-range is very liquid and smooth. The vocals are right there in front of you perfectly represented. The high frequencies are so smooth yet so detailed. These have no listener fatigue whatsoever and a joy with any genre to enjoy. The build quality feels 1st class minus the hinges and my pair has a custom removable cable making them the TR X00 version. Highly Highly recommended.
Fits well, and in flawless condition. Sound is bliss to my ears, and blocks sound coming in and going out. Should be even better when paired with my amp and broken in.
