    Bargain.

Seen the exact same model in the shops ( B&M) for £ 20 more without the extra belts. Used it on wood so far, a little bit noisey and gets hot with prolongued use. Variable speeds makes it easy to get a better finish, and easy to switch between fine and rough belts. Pleased with the product and the extremely quick delivery. ( ordered late at night, and it arrived two days later.) The only downsides are the dust catcher doesn't fit particularly well, and the heat it produces if used for longer periods. But suspect that it is the same with all of these machines regardless of the make or model ( obviously a high speed motor in a enclosed body working against resistance will heat up.) But if used for a few minutes at a time and allowed to cool down a little bit it's not really a problem. Not a professional, but it suits my needs perfectly.

Good little file sander for the price. 🤞

Takes a bit of getting used to, handle and trigger are at an odd angle though. It get's to the places other sanders can't though. Being Silverline it doesn't feel very strong long term and the handle soon gets very hot, still, not bad for the price I s'psoe?

  • Power file For Occasional Use

I bought this to sand back welds. I am an DIYer and work on my old 4x4r as it needs things doing. I had to weld a bracket for the fuel tank and saved many pounds by doing the job myself. However the welds weren't pretty and I didn't want my local MOT garage where my mate works mocking me as an incompetent fool. But I couldn't get my grinder in the space to reduce the excess weld. Bought this power file and a load of 40 grit belts and was amazed at the results. You can poke this thing in really tight gaps and it works. Yes it gets a bit warm and it pays to make sure the belt is seated properly, unlike I did on one occasion, but it hasn't cut out or slowed down whilst in operation. Having said that don't force it or the belt will slip but it removes stock pretty damn good. I have also found it to be gentler but just as quick in preparing surfaces prior to welding, my angle grinder gouges the surface the power file cleans it, my inexperience I know but I'm not a pro. The belts are available real cheap and in dfferent grits, I got through about Five doing this job but thought that was ok. Great tool

  • Good solid little tool

Very pleased with this but after a few minutes it seemed to lose a little power. Stopped it and started again it was fine. for a few minutes then it lost a little power again. Turned up the speed etc and it still plays up now and then whatever speed I use. I don't drive it hard and havent used it for more than a total of an hour so a bit worrying really. Its only 260w though, so maybe I am expecting too much for something that is nearly half the price of the competition and not so powerful(I have a B&D one of these which I have thrashed for fifteen years and is starting to play up). So early days yet for this one, watch this space. I bought this after borrowing one from a friend and was impressed with his one. I like the in line configuration so you can get it right up into awkward spaces and the belts are standard size so no problem getting them and very easy to change the belt.

  • Impressed.

I have been very pleased with the performance and construction of this somewhat niche tool. I generally stick with De Walt Power Tools, or similar. As I had a specific problem to deal with on a large project, I took a gamble on what I falsely assumed would be a functional, but inferior tool for short-term use … … I must say that I have been very impressed with this particular tool by Silverline. In addition, I had noted when looking for such a tool, that this design is not as wide as many of the competitors by a large margin and I have found that to be a distinct advantage, together with the variable speed. Changing belts is also remarkably easy. Although I have not used it for a long duration, the build quality seems robust and I have a good feeling that it will last a long time. I do wish that it was provided with a case, as it is an awkward tool to lug around. However, that's not really much of a criticism in context of t's excellent attrbutes. I never thought that I would ever be saying this, but my experience requires me to recommend this exceptionally good value for money tool by Silverline which I shall be keeping handy for future use ...

  • Good tool for sanding and removal of surface rust in tight spaces.

I bought this as I had an in-situ welding job in a very tight space and needed to clean off the surface rust. No chance of getting an angle grinder in! This was the least unwieldy tool I could find, but obviously not the most powerful. It did the job satisfactorily, provided the belts were changed when worn, and without pressing too hard, which stalls the tool. Having the adjustable handle position helps. Belts are dead easy to change ...just press on the end of the tool until it retracts and locks with a click, replace the belt then press the button to spring the tool back out again. The variable speed function is also useful. Good choice of grit on the sanding belts, which are also quite cheap to buy. The price of the tool itself is also considerably cheaper than the more powerful ones, which would probably work better if you had the space, which I didn't.

  • Power file use

Good value for money. Easy to use. Perhaps could be speedier but unlike my older Black and Decker unit doesn't throw off belts. Managed the tricky task of removing a cycle bottom bracket without damage to the frame threads. Impressed.

Delivered very quickly well packaged and ready to get to work. Needed a belt file for a specific job buy have found multiple applications for this power tool. Shame it wasn’t battery powered but glad I purchased it at a good price on comparison with others on offer.

  • Good value if you have a bit of patience

I’ve taken down a long run of spot welds with 40grit belts and the tool has fared pretty well. The belt will slip if you try to apply too much pressure, and it could probably do with a bit more power, but on the whole I like it. Can’t comment on longevity yet.

  • Is this the new tradition?!

Replaces alot of traditional shaping methods usually faster and more accurate. Can be used for everything from sharpening knives to whittling. Mine arrived slightly damaged, so the belt tracking is slightly off by 1mm, otherwise not a problem. Could be too noisy to use in the early hours with close neighbours, being about as loud as a fast Corded Power Drill. A cordless option would be more convenient.
