Blackberry Q5 - A great 2nd phone for business use

Never having had a Blackberry phone, I was a lttle unsure of how I would get on with it. I needed a phone for work reasons and took a gamble on a Q5. The mix of the physical keyboard and the responsive touchcreen is great for emails, calendars, contacts etc. The battery life has been better than I expected - more than 2 days of use is possible. Obviously the screen size is small when compared to the 5.5" screen handsets around now, and watching movies wouldn't suit it, but it is bright and very clear. It has integrated with my work's Exchange server really easily and reliably and has some very nice integrated features that my Android 6 device doesn't have without extra apps (LinkedIn integration and conference number dialling). It upgraded to the latest BB10 version 10.3.2 without a hitch over wifi. Anyone used to using a touchscreen device will not find BB10 difficult - and I find the additional swipe gestures quite natural to use My work SIM only supports 3g but mobile internet is speedy enough. The camera front and back is basic but adequate given this is a work phone for me. With only 8GB of onboard memory (which halves after the latest OS update), a micro sd card is essential for any media storage. The latest BB10 OS happily supported my 128GB Sandisk card without a hitch (though formatting in the device is a must). Call quality is very impressive and the speaker phone is loud enough for small meetings. The Blackberry 10 appstore does not have a fraction of the throusands of apps you get in Android Play or the Apple Appstore, but all the basics are there. You may be disappointed though so check first if there's a favourite app you can't do without. All in all, I'm delighted with the Q5.

    All but vibrate working perfectly

My Blackberry Q5 had finally given up the ghost, so I was elated to be able to get another one identical. Price was good and battery (which was what had finally one on mine) is still in Blackberry's fantastic days-long-charge stage. Only problem with the phone is that the vibrate isn't quite right; sometimes it doesn't work at all, sometimes it only does one when I have it set to two, and when it's going off continuously for an alarm it can cut in or out. It appears to be vibrating itself in and out of place.

  • Blackberry Q5

The Blackberry Q5 is smaller than most modern smartphones so fits in the pocket or bag easily its also light in weight. I personally love typing on physical keyboards and Blackberry do keyboards very well. The Blackberry 10 operating system works perfect, the Hub keeps all my contacts and calls in order which I can check instantly. For me this this phone dose the job, its not swamped with adverts or silly apps and yes, WhatsApp will not be supported after December 2017 some Blackberry stuff don't work, but some times just Text, talk and email is all we need.

  • All you need!

Probably my 10th Q series Blackberry because I'm a builder and phones are lucky to last 6 months, Watch out for the sim holder whilst changing sim cards because I've had two break with me being rough when changing the sim. WhatsApp is still working but sat nav isn't possible anymore. I have tried Google maps and a few other apps but can't get the GPS working. (I might be wrong, please tell if you know how), THE MUSIC PLAYER SOUNDS FANTASTIC THROUGH BLUETOOTH IN THE CAR AND IS THE Q SERIES BLACKBERRY'S BEST POINT and why I keep going back. Love them and can't wait for the Key2 to be cheaper. Little known Blackberry fact is that the intelligence agencies with their corporate masters purposely destroyed Blackberry's for being to secure. Google(Android), like Twitter and Facebook are really all used for surveillance and are designed to be accessible by the want to be dictators that had controlled us until 2017 when Trump took the lot of them out. (one day you'll all understand). Blackberry's were un-hackable and the powers that be just couldn't have that available to everyone but them.

  • Reliable workhorse

These are good smartphones for business use. Battery life is excellent (it will make it through a day with a 30 minute charge when it is 3 years old) it is responsive, the keyboard is excellent, call quality good and even the camera works well. It appears that the sim card cover is a bit weak, this is remedied by putting it in a Blackberry hard case which is £10 and protects it well.

  • A phone you can rely on

the phone I recently bought was a refurbished one but, other than a scratch on the screen, it looks excellent. it does the job as requested, the physical keyboard does all the money! phone is as described, pretty fast due to 2Gb of memory.....for a work environment (IT related at least) it is a very good choice.
