  • GOOD BUT BE CAREFULL

Works great no problem but be aware if you have a flash on the camera that uses preflash then the pre flash will triger the unit and it will not fire when the shutter is open.

  • A rare product in today's non-backwards compatible world.

The current all-encompassing march of digital image capture undoubtedly has changed the photographic world for ever - some would say for the better and some say for the worse. The Analogue Vs Digital argument will no doubt continue with each camp having valid points that support their preferred technology. As part of the digi-march, much existing equipment is not, or cannot, be used with the modern breed of camera, lenses, flash guns &tc. In my digi arsenal, I have a Nikon D 70 camera, and in the analogue realm, a Pentax K1000, Zenit XP and "The Beast" - a Mamiya RB67 along with Metz CT-1 and CL-4 Hammerhead flash guns. I like to have equipment that can work with each other without fuss or dramas, and those who are familiar with the Metz CT-1 will be familiar with the high trigger voltage needed to fire it. This high trigger voltage has been the nemisis of many digi camera owners who have fried their camera's flash trigger internals and this is where this little beast comes in. I LOVE the Metzezesezes ( what IS the plural for Metz???) to death. They are as solid and reliable bit of kit as anyone could hope for, but finding a trigger that can withstand the high trigger voltage of the CT-1 has been problematic until now. I cannot recommend this little optical flash trigger highly enough. It is compact, very lightweight so it can be stuck/taped almost anywhere on the remote flash, and has NEVER failed to trigger the CT-1. It comes with a female PC socket which is great news for older-gear heads like myself who see no need on replacing gear just because the newer versions don't have the usual, older connectors on board. This trigger enables any smart buyer to use professional quality flash guns with no compatibility issues, and to that end, this trigger gets my Highest Recommendation. So, dust off the Metzezeses and get shooting knowing you're using pro-gear at a fraction of the cost of newer, less capable replacements.
