OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW
These days it's always tempting to buy something electrically operated but I live in an area where the power goes out frequently so I primarily stick with manual kitchen aids. There is nothing more frustrating than a can opener which doesn't work properly and I was impressed with the reviews of this one when my current opener was snagging and catching on every can, threatening me (and sometimes succeeding) with gouged hands every time I laboriously tried to open a half-cut lid. I LOVE this opener. It has a comfortable non-slip grip, it punctures the can with just a very light squeeze and the smooth ergonomic handle turns smoothly for a fast, easy cut even on cans with slightly dented lids. Would be excellent if...
they'd seal the grips down to the plastic that they slip over, so the plastic can't be exposed & break or collect bacteria in the gap. At least OXO has a satisfaction guarantee & sent a replacement without me having to send the broken one back (a previous version, but the current version still needs the grips sealed down), just a photo of it.
